You can download the printer drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model printer and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

You need to download drivers for windows vista. They are supported in windows 7. Go to www.hp.com, click on "drivers and support", enter your printer model, and download the drivers for windows vista.

The original solution was to "download the Windows Vista drivers. These drivers will work with Windows 7".
There are Windows 7 drivers available now, so here is the link.
There are two different sets. One for 32bit Windows 7 and 64bit Windows 7.
To determine which version of Windows 7 you have:
Find the Computer menu item in the start menu by clicking on the Flag button in the lower left corner.
Right click on "Computer" and select properties from the list in the contents menu.
You will see under the System section a mention of the System type.
Download the matching driver.
