I just replaced the color ink in my Canon IP1800 printer. The color ink I use is Canon CL-31. The problem: After the printer turning on, the green led turn on for about a second than its turn off and the orange led blink 14 times. When trying to print I'm getting the following popup: The following ink cartridge can not be recognized. Color Printing can not be executed because the ink cartridge may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with the printer. I would appreciate your help Regards, Dudi

SOURCE: cartridge problem

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Help me pls...

First of all to make your ink last longer you need to be using the Canon PG-40 and CL-41 instead of the Canon PG-30 and CL-31. The 40's are the higher capacity versions of the 30's. If you mean to ask why your color cartridge is going empty when you don't print much color, it is because when you print in black and white your printer mixes in some color with the black. There is no way to stop your printer from mixing color ink with the black.

Ink cartage

This printer will take either the PG-30 or PG-40 (larger size) cartridges for black ink, and either the CL-31 or CL-41 (larger size) cartridges for color ink.
