Hi,
not just the compressor running is fine but the compressor should have gas in it... if the compressor gas has been wiped out in the same case also the refrigeration will stop cooling....
Hope this has helped you...
thanks
Is this something I will be able to fix with simple set of tools? If so, is there a valve to check the gas level and what kind of gas does it need?
To diagnose a gas shortage, feel the temp of the liquid line with your hand which is the pipe before the condenser. This can be found by following the smaller dia pipe from the compress (discharge). This should be hot, however you will get a false reading if the compressor is overheating if you check the discharge heat as the compressor is likely to be hot. Heat is a by-product to create pressure prior to the change of state into, a cold low pressure vapour.
