Hi it is entirely possible that the sky decoder has not been setup to output sound to HDMI. I assume you are using HDMI lead and this lead goes from decoder to TV.

check the sound setting on the sky box go to setting, then sound. audio out stereo
digital audio out optical (dolby D)
digital audio output hdmi (normal)
digital audio output delay (0ms)

this is how the settings should be digital out put hdmi only works with full HD 3D tvs.

I have skyhd connected to Lght-805sh via optical connection but when i turn sky over from a hd channel to normal channel there is no sound

Hi,

Not sure what you mean by "optical connection" but you need to connect your SkyHD box to your TV using both HDMI and SCART cables. Your Sky HD box will then send the signal via the HDMI cable for the HD channels and the SCART cable for the SD channels.

Hope this helps

Recently purchased a Sony Bravia KDL37EX403 1080p 100HZ flat screen tv. The picture seems to be poorly defined, almost pixelated around the edges of figures and letters - sport is almost unwatchable with...

Your old TV was most likely a SD (Standard Definition) TV. SD signals look better on SD TV sets than they do on HD TV sets. This is normal. If you will, imagine having a tiny wallet photo reprinted as an 8"x10" photo. The image would be grainy and not have the crispness of the original. This is the same principle. Your SD source is being blown up to fill an HD screen. Once you add HD to your programming, the old TV will be forgotten. I hope this was helpful.

HOW TO CONNECT SAMSUNG 40 LCD TV TO SAMSUNG SURROUND TZ215 THRUGH SKY + HD BOX.

you will need the following = HDMI LEAD
Optical Audio Lead
Red and White phono Lead

Sky HD Box > connect to Tv via HDMI Lead.

Sky HD box > Connect the optical Audio, and the Phono Leads To your Surrounds sound.

The reason I am wanting you to connect the phono's as well as the optical audio out. Not all programs are transmitted with Dolby D so you will need these for normal sound to come through your surround sound.

One last thing I would like you to check is the sound settings on your Hd box.

OLD PROGRAM GUIDE:
On your sky remote. Press SERVICES, 4, 2, then ensure that Dolby D is displayed if not highlight and using the blue button change this to Dolby D. then arrow down to save.

NEW PROGRAM GUIDE:
On your sky remote. Press SERVICES, 0, Arrow along to SOUND then arrow down and change this to DOLBY D Then press the GREEN button.

Hope this Helps you out. IF so please leave a thumbs up

How do i connect to sky hd and sony kdl 40w 4710 and dav-is10 i have hdmi from skyhd to tv and hdmi from home cinema to tv what else is required as i cant get surround sound from tv

you need a Optical audio cable, run this from the back of your Sky HD box to the Surround sound. Not all Broadcast are transmitted in DD so press your i button on the sky remote and you will see this on the yellow bar above the program information if it is..

Might be worth running a set of White and Red audio cable from the HD box to the Surround sound as well that way you can just mute your telly and have the lot coming through the surround sound system.

Hope this clears things up for you

Remember the channel rf number,

go to your television the link is to.
go to menu then setup and then manual tune
select the channel you want to view sky on. normally channel 6 on your analogue
then go to Channel type in whatever the rf setting was on your main sky box then press save.

that is your telly sorted out. if you have a magic eye connected at the link end you should see a red led light lit up.
if not remove the magic eye and connect it straight into the back of your sky box RF2
