Warped screen, double images

Just today the screen looks odd, like it wraps around the back of the tv. There are double images in red and green outlines. Any ideas what is causing this?

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.



You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should beWarped screen, double images - 2c07611.pngThis is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Sounds like a convergence problem. It is possible the STK chips have failed. There are websites and kits available to help with this problem. I can tell you that the site that Jean posted will not fix this problem and could even make things worse. That site pertains to a specific problem that is common in some Sony sets and should not be used to try to fix any other issue.

Please keep in mind many things can go wrong with TV sets and you should really do a lot of research before attempting any adjustment and or repair. There are high voltages present in some areas and they can reside even when the set is unplugged.
