These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

It has a highly distorted picture. The picture doubles up and is concave with "rainbowing". Is this an easy, cheap fix.

you may try to adjust the convergence using your remote it has one, if your HDTV has no convergence adjustment, the convergence electronics circuit inside the cabinet may need servicing or replacement.

We have a philips projection tv 60PP920217F we can not alighn the blue color the picture is concaved on bottom and top

This is a convergence problem and can be repaired by replacing the two STK-392-120 convergence chips and adjusting the set with the original remote control

I have specific instructions for this repair from start to finish.

Concaved screen image, no response on vertical blue converge

I've read some similar problems that tend to indicate that it is a convergence chip problem, so i ordered a convergence kit. I will update you as soon as I get it fixed. Thanks

Screen lookes like colores separating

This is what is known as convergence. a projection tube ussally has three picture tubes.. red green blue. they all have to align. the concave picture indicates complete loss of convergence or convegence power supply. First question on these sets Do you have the convergence option in the customer menu under setup. if you do not this is a indication of the common "FL231 fuse problem" and inexpensive simple repair. I have wrote and artilcle on this under my tips and trick section. If you do have the option then next does autoconvergence work. in you case i would not think it work. under blue and red manual convergence does the crosshairs move. if not then this is indication of convergence power supply board. if they move at all this may indicate a convergence amplifer problem.

Red and blue colors go across the screen. picture looks concave.

Greetings joanne7,

The issue you are having could be caused by your television needing the convergence adjusted. During production your televison has the three picture tubes that are converged to form a single image on the screen. Over time these can come out of adjustment.
If you go to this link http://download.jazel.net/misc/filecache/b8/b89bca4c8b740315d378e8ed030461c5_1227-517SeriesOwnersGuide.pdf and check pages 57 and 58, it gives you a very detailed guide on adjusting your convergence. I am aware this model number is slightly different than yours, but I own a 47" Mitsubishi and this is the exact procedure we use to do our convergence so I am confident it is fairly universal.

I hope this helps!
