You need to use brand new original genuine canon cartridges. with most inkjet printers the refills and the replica cheaper cartridges do not work

I cant print it says I'm out of black link and I just replaced it and it's flashing E 1 6

From http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/clearing-canon-pixma-error-message-e13-e16/

Locate the STOP/RESET/RESUME button on your printer which is represented by a triangle within a circle on the body of your printer and is usually in red, white or black as pictured below. With the reset button located hold it down for at least five seconds and then release it.

Canon mp390 manual

We suggest you first attempt the basic/universal Canon ink level reset procedures before attempting any of the more advanced procedures provided on our Inkjet411 site*

A. Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure (printers without LCD display):
[ Refer to the 1st support video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=62 ]
1) At computer screen message, select 'Stop'/'Reset', 'OK', or 'Resume'.
....or....
2) Select 'Stop'/'Reset', 'OK' or the 'Resume' button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds:
- Printing may continue under the 'ink out' condition.

B. Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure (printers with LCD display):
[ Refer to the 2nd support video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=62 ]
1) Install cartridge and start print job.
2) After first message appears, click 'OK' to continue. Printer should start printing.
3) If second message appears and printer's LCD screen displays error code "E", then DO NOT click 'CANCEL PRINTING'.
4) Press and hold down 'Stop'/'Reset' button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds. Printer should start printing.

If you are able to produce a self test print, this is good since it illustrates that the cartridges are electrically stable...if you observe any 'E' or 'V' error states (i.e. E13 or V162 for example), this may indicate there is possibly an internal electrical problem with one of the ink cartridges. Refer to your user guide if E/V error messages are displayed.

*If, after following the suggested ink monitoring/level reset procedures, you still have an error condition which prohibits regular printing, then the ink cartridge probably has internal electrical damage (micro-electronics failure); such a failure is unrelated to the ink cartridge refilling process. Typically, when the cartridge fails the problem is 'masked' by the ink out/empty condition so it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Many cartridges eventually do encounter problems or failures, especially after their original ink is gone and they are re-used, and this is often unrelated to the refill process (i.e. typically ~2 years from original manufacturing date). Refer to picture at bottom of this page: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1533

To verify the Canon printer is functional, install a brand new cartridge in it - this will 100% confirm whether your refilled, compatible or remanufactured ink cartridge is faulty or not.

Canon Smartbase MP390 won't print and blinks message 'put in cartridge'. What cartridges?! The ink tanks are OK, so I'm stuck. Please help!!!

Are they the manufacturer's new cartridges? Frequently refilled or non-branded cartridges will not be recognized; if so replace with new ink tanks from Canon. Otherwise pull out the ink tanks and reinsert them. They may not be fully seated. New cartridges may be required to replace a bad cartridge; talk to Canon about the warranty.

Power cycling the printer (on/off, pulling the power cord) may reset an error. Some printers need to be on when the power cord is removed from the unit and then the wall to do the reset.

The next thing is to check the printhead if it is removable. (There is a lever that locks the printhead on some printers - lift it up after removing the ink cartridges. You can then pull the printhead and clean it (lint-free cloths and bottled or distilled water). Wipe away from critical parts.) Finally a new printhead may help; otherwise the unit needs service.

I hope this helps.

Trapped ink cartridge on printer

Instructions

1. Step 1

Remove the printer inkjet cartridge from the printer. Inspect it to make sure that it truly has ink left in the sponge that is worth going after. If it is dry, this method will not help you get any more out of it.

2. Step 2

Get your blow-dryer from the bathroom, or take the printer ink cartridge to where the hair dryer is.

3. Step 3

Hold the cartridge a few inches from the mouth of the blower.

4. Step 4

Blast the printer inkjet cartridge with hot air from the dryer for a couple of minutes, turning the cartridge so that all sides are warmed.

5. Step 5

Replace the printer inkjet cartridge back into the printer.

6. Step 6

Print your document. This should free up enough ink to print a few more documents. It does actually save you money to do this, even considering the cost of the electricity to melt the ink. The ink in printer inkjet cartridges is the most expensive liquid on the planet. Use every drop to your advantage.

Canon mp390 flashing alarm saying "put in cartridge"

The cartridge in this case is the printhead, not the inks. It's telling you the printhead is bad.

I have a check printer message on my canon imageclass mp390 which doesnt allow me to print. How do I get rid of this message. I originally had a waste tank full message but that has changed now to check...

Hello,

Many times if you have changed an ink cartridge and there is as much as a smudge of ink where the cartridge makes electronic contact, the printer will send this check printer message. This check printer message will also appear on a lot of printers when the cartridge has been filled with bulk ink.
I hope this helps
