I think you'll find that the NumLock was left on when you disconnected the external keyboard, and numbers (shown on the laptop keys in blue on the right side of the keyboard) are in use instead of the normal characters. Just press the NumLock key, usually near the top right of the keyboard.

HI, If you Are writing numbers instead of letters when you press the
keyboard of your laptop and you must hold down the Function key (Fn) to
write normally.
This is due to the fact that the digital lock is activated. To solve
this, simply press the Fn+Numlk or depending of the model, press the
button or Fn + Shift +Numlk
Num Lk will cause the keys on the right-hand side of your keyboard to display the alternate characters printed in blue. Just press the Num Lk key--it's the fifth key from the top right corner of your keyboard--to deselect, and your problem will vanish.
When the RH side of the keboard types numbers instead of letters then the Num Lock (number lock) key has been pressed.
Press the Num Lock Key again to return to letters again, usually this is usually done by pressing the Fn key plus and probably the Scroll keys, this key will be also marked NumLk, and there will be a LED light that will indicate when the number lock is on.
