I have a sony dcr-hc36 handycam that I am connecting to a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard osx6 with intel processor. I have the sony sitting in the cradle and connected to the power cord (no battery), and I have the fire wire connected. The mac doesn't acknowledge the sony. How can I get it to do that? I will edit in iMovie. Thanks Bruce

unfortunatley all sony products only work on pc your best bet would be to transfere to dvd and import that way

Hi Try using the software called Vuescan by Hamrick Software.. www.hamrick.com I think.
It will recognize the scanner and work with OS 10.4 and UP. Although I am not sure about 10.6 Snow Leopard.

If your cam has a firewire connection, you could plug it into the macbook and use iMovie to transfer the videos over. You can also get an external DVD drive to put those tiny DVDs into to transfer it over.

You should have got a sofware disc with the handycam when you bought it.if you load the disc it should accept the video on usb.if you dont have the disc try sonys website for software,.
