Im under the impression you want to wall mount the monitor. Ive done this with a few monitors it should just unscrew and basically fall off? Have a look underneath the base for any screws they will be somewhere keep looking.

Acer 2016W - When powered on, it shows colored lines (blue, green, red, yellow - vertical) and then goes to a blueish-green display color, no deskktop display at all, have tried switching out monitor...

Yep,

When the capacitors start to go out it causes the power supply to not provide the correct voltages. You monitor has the back light power but the 5v power going to the video driver board is not working correctly. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to open the unit, remove the power supply board and what capacitors need to be replaced.

How to remove the base

I have an AL2223W. It has 4 screws on the back that allows the stand to be removed. See if yours has that.

Is ACER al2016W monitor dual-voltage?

Voltage Required AC 120/230 V

Yes Bob, you can use it in UK 240V and I believe no adjustments required since they are swithed mode power supplies.

Just to make sure have look at the data label at the back of the monitor it should say AC 120/230V. UK 240 is OK since there is a +/- 10% variation allowed on that.

I got the information out of the specifications on line, so you should be OK.

Monitor lcd acer al2016w 20" letters and image are fuzzy,,why?

I also have an Asrock motherboard (M266A) and have the AL2216W. The image and text is also fuzzy. I did improve it a by by unplugging/replugging all of the connectors on the back of the computer. I believe my mouse had a somewhat loose connection and this was causing interference. I can actually create interference on screen by moving my mouse up and down.
These Acer monitors seem to be very sensitive. I also tried this monitor on a old Desktop with Win98 and another new laptop with XP and it looks good on those computers, but not on my Asrock based system.
