My creative zen touch it totally frozen. it won't turn on(or off, depending on how you want to look at it), but the blue power button is still on. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work: charging it, plugging it into the computer, switching it from lock mode and back, etc, and it still won't work. I really don't know how to fix it.
I have a ZEN and on the side of the ZEN, under the volume controls is a reset pin hole. Use a paperclip and press the button in that hole. That will reset it. Let me know.
Hmm, smacking the zen down might not be the best idea though, it is a hard drive inside and if the head touch the disks, it's really done for. The manual even states that it should be used with heavy jogging. Let alone smacking it on the desk. =)
I cant recommend this but..... from what ive been reading people have been
smacking the player on its rhs while turning it on works.I had to smack it fairly hard though so don't be afraid!! I

I would run the recovery console from the player itself. Make sure the Touch's power supply is plugged in (and unplugged from a PC) then to access the recovery mode of the Touch, hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a straightened paper clip into the reset hole on your player, give it about five seconds then remove the paper clip. Next, keep on holding the Play/Pause button until the Rescue Mode screen appears. After you see the rescue mode menu, you can release the play/pause button. I would try a "clean up" first, as this is less intrusive and will not erase data.
I had the same problem and downloaded the necessary software from the Creative Support site. Try http://support.creative.com/downloads/ and select Zen Touch
"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause." Q. How to reset Zen v + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22T_gkkZjmM&feature=related
Sounds like a bad motherboard to me. However, it may just need a firmware update. Have you tried to update the firmware yet?
If not, go to www.Creative.com
-->Support
-->Downloads
-->Follow the correct language and country links
-->Select the correct options for Zen Touch
-->Select Firmware
Download the firmware and try to upload it to your Zen Touch.
If your Zen Touch is not recognized by the computer, its best to buy another MP3 player, as your motherboard is bad.
Thank you thank you thank you a billion times, you just saved my life (well, at least my zen's).
Did as you said, my Zen Touch 20GB is rebuilding it's library right now. Oh, now it's done. Everything's still there, awesome.
Thank you!
