My Creative Zen Touch 40GB is frozen. It froze in the middle of a song.
I read on a blogg online that the solution is to open it up and take the battery out and put it back in. This reboots it. I went to a reputable store (Sourse Cicuit City) thank God, and asked them if they could do this. They said NO! Never open it up. (It also says: do not open in the manual.)
They said that all MP3's have a code to use when frozen. They tried holding down Play and Menu at the same time unfortunately that wasn't it.
I have emailed Creative Knowledge Base (www.creative.com) but they are taking forever to get back to me.
I am looking for a code for Creative Zen Touch 40GB.
1)Is there a code for the Creative Zen when it freezes?
2)Does anyone know the code?
3)How long does it take for a newly charged battery for the Creative Zen to die?
Any suggestions would be helpful.

WOW! It worked!! Just got a phone call from Loud Therapy.ca A technician by the name of Brad, walked me through what to do.
*Plug the Creative Zen in to the charger and plug it in the wall. *Press in the Play/Pause (same button) and hold it in. *Incert a paper clip (I used a darning needle)in to the pin hole on the left side of player, near the bottom. *Hold the needle or paper clip in for 4 seconds and let go. *Keep holding down the Play/Pause botton. *Within 15 seconds the light on the player will go out.
It will be ready to turn on and play.

I would try a firmware update, if you have a PC running windows xp or vista, check out this link for a firmware download. If this doesn't work, i would consider investing in a new mp3 player, because of course you probably could contact the "Creative" company and get then to fix it, but it'd probably cost about as much as buying a new one....not worth it....the new 80gb zune is very nice...or you could go for another zen product. or ipod...
this helped me as after it rebuilds the libary then it always froze on a song let the battery run out! this worked for me straight away and i had tried loads of other ideas this actually came from the tech guys !!!
Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
