SOURCE: copies and faxes come out with 5 inch black area over whole page
Does this same thing happen if you just print a report out of it?
Here's the logic behind this.
If it happens on scanning or copying, but not on printing that's a problem with the scanning section.
If it happens on everything (scanning, printing etc) that's a problem with in the printer controls.
Usually on lasers, if it's printing related, the first thing to do is change the toner.
If the imaging drum (which is part of the toner cartridge) is damaged, it will leave lines down the page.
This is a fairly common problem on refilled toners.
If you have changed the toner, and it still does it, it's a different problem.

Your leading edge erase margin is adjusted out too far. It can be adjusted with a manual.

there is probably something on a drum, fuser roller, transfer roller, or primary roller. usually an easy fix for a copier tech, probably not for someone with no experience.

Hello sir; Either drum cleaning blade or drum cartridge needto replace.
SOURCE: functional problem sc 390 on ricoh photocopier,
SC 390 on an Aficio 1018 will most likely be a bad TD (toner density) sensor, if you've already replaced the drum and developer. (One thing to check quickly though is to pull the PCU out and reinstall it, just to make sure that connection isn't the problem.)
You can either replace the TD sensor by itself, or replace the DV unit (which probably won't be much more expensive). But either way, you'll need to install new developer when you replace the parts.
