Would you please let me know how I can avoid this problem? It is hard to read the fax or copy because there is a 4 - 6 inch band of black ink over the whole page.
Does this same thing happen if you just print a report out of it?
Here's the logic behind this.
If it happens on scanning or copying, but not on printing that's a problem with the scanning section.
If it happens on everything (scanning, printing etc) that's a problem with in the printer controls.
Usually on lasers, if it's printing related, the first thing to do is change the toner.
If the imaging drum (which is part of the toner cartridge) is damaged, it will leave lines down the page.
This is a fairly common problem on refilled toners.
If you have changed the toner, and it still does it, it's a different problem.

Hello,
This happens every time. The Stripe is about 4 - 6 inches across and it covers the whole page.
I tried cleaning the glass inside the printer as advised by the HP website and this did not resolve the issue.
Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much! I purchased a new toner cartridge and now the fax machine is printing perfect reports!
That happens on anything that comes out of it? Or just some times?
Is it like a stripe down the page, repeated across? Or just at the beginning?
Just trying to get an idea of what you described is coming out on the page.
