SOURCE: Hayward sand filter needs primed every time

The problem is a malfunctioning check valve. It'll be somewhere in the line on the pump output side. If it's not a separate fitting it'll be in the line, probably in an elbow.

Need further info, let me know...

If there is air in the pump it cavitates and can make it run louder, otherwise it is the bearings in the motor.

SOURCE: leak between seal plate and pump/strainer housing

The pump seal is leaking and needs replacing and requires removing four 3/8 bolts (9/16) wrench and removing the motor then the diffuser to get to the impeller and seal . A 7/16 wrench holds the rear motor shaft behind the springs and impeller spins off to reveal the seal which has two parts one on the impeller with a spring and one in the seal plate is white ceramic/ porcelan whatever they use. Part number is an SPX1600KA on super pumps and 1500KA wassome above grounds. When replacing do not touch the mating white and black surfaces with your fingers.

I replaced emerson 1hp pump to my hayward max pump and leaks any ideas all seals replaced

Hi, this is John the Hayward tech. Sounds like the mechanical seal is leaking. If you replace the spring loaded seal the problem could be that it was installed backwards. It is ceramic against carbon. if installed the other way it will leak. Any debris or oils getting on the seal will also cause it to fail Running pump without any water will heat up the seal and cause it to fail.

Seal leaks on my power flo lx hayward pool pump

The seal can be replaced with either a 2131 or 200 seal from any pool store in your area. Most can offer tips on how to replace the part if you need guidance. The seal should be under $20 and could be as little as about $5.

This June, I had to replace my strainer housing on my Hayward Power-Flo Matrix pump. It cracked in cold weather before I remembered to remove it. On installing a replacement, I noticed that the pump showed...

One or more of a couple issues is at play here. First would be the seal replacement. Even if you used the correct seal if you touched the surfaces or failed to install it properly it can and will leak. Second, inspect the housing around the seal fit and the stem of the impeller for cracks. A hairline crack is enough when placed under pump operating pressure to allow a leak. Somewhere in there is your solution.

My Hayward super pump is leaking water where the two large sections come together with six 9/16 bolts at the very top. I replaced the large flat rubber seal and even tried silicone on the faces that come...

Take the two sections apart, remove the seal and put the two sections back together. You will be able to see any gaps if they are warped. A straight edge might work too. Also inspect the surfaces for any cracks. The can get a hairline crack if the sections are tightened to tight, and the seal is out of the grooves. If all is ok, silicone the seal, silicone the grooves, then put the pump back together. This will help keep the seal in place. I just use a pool/spa sealer like Leslies Pool and spa lubricant.
