How to control water levels in Maytag TOP LOAD WASHER, model #MAV 6000 AWW

Some model have fuse in top control panel, check lid switch, yes large button is the brains, it sometime can fail but usally only takes out 1 of the cycles.

The washer was made from 2000 to 2001

Does this happen on any water level setting, or just on full load? If the machine is overfilling, the centrifugal force at the start of the spin cycle will throw the water up the sides high enough to overflow the top of the tub.

If the machine is overfilling just a little as I suggest, then the water level switch may be out of calibration or the water level hose may be partially clogged at the tub end. A quick fix in the latter case would be to disconnect the hose from the level switch and blow compressed air through it - it's a lot easier to get into the control panel than the side of the tub. A leaky hose would have a similar effect.

Open the control console.
Use a voltmeter to test the timer motor.
Set the machine to wash.
Place the meter leads on the 2 timer motor wires.
If you read 120 volts and the timer does not advance,the timer motor is bad.
The complete timer will need replacing.

I would check the water valves or the water lines. If the water valve is leaking, the water could be running out and following down the cabinet then in to the tub, or the water valve water line that leads right in to the tub there for leaving a water build up.

hi thanks for the question re set the water level control to see if it will add more water if it doesn,t it could be a bad water valve check that thanks the appliancedoc

hi. thanks for the question .the clicking sound is something caught, in water pump. the rubber smell is the belt . pull washer away from the wall. small door at the back left corner ,remove pump on the floor. remove 3 3/8 bolts remove. replace . belt underneath washer . replace thanks the appliance doc please rate me

this is my experience repairing the maytag washer Atlantis mav series 9750 aww, I had to replace the spin bearing since it was making a jet engine noise when it was spinning out the water. its not an easy job for my 1st time taking this machine apart, you literally take it all apart to get to this bearing, but now I can show how to do it with pictures making it easier for you to do it. even if you have to replace something other than the spin bearing, this how to tutorial will show you how to get to most of the parts in this machine, parts are not that expensive, 50-80for bearing kit, here is my site on how to do it

Looking at the manual there maybe a 10Amp fuse the manual says"If Equipt." on L1 then feeds the timer. post your email and i will send you the manual
