I got this a couple of months ago, and tried to use the espresso maker tonight for the first time. I filled the water tank, made sure it was pressed down firmly, and attached the empty filters for the first run through as instructed in the booklet. The machine is rather loud, and no water ever came out. I even tried using the frothing nozzle, but nothing came out of there either. Any ideas what's wrong? The coffee side of the machine works fine.

I have the same problem and this is the second machine. I warrantied the first one because it stopped working. I brewed one espresso with this machine and now no water or steam will come out. Help?
SOURCE: Froth control problems
Your vinegar did the job: it as removed the deposits, now these deposits are clogging the four holes porcelain valve.....if the froth lever is not broken.
Remove all the screw you can see on the top and under the top of it, remove the cover, unscrew the frothing device down to the porcelain valve consisting of two 4 holes discs, clean them, and voila!

SOURCE: water leaking in espresso machine
I have a Krups 2010 and it leaked from day one I used it for about a month before I decided to fix it myself instead of paying for shipping it to them. After opening the back (yes the warranty is broken) I took some photos and here is what I found. Poor quality control there are two screws holding a hose interface to the reservoir and they are not tight or became loose since they are metal screws going into plastic that get hot and vibrates.
The fix is to tighten the screws just slightly so that you do not crack the plastic then dab them with nail polish so that they do not move. (see second photo). This machine still makes one of the best espressos I have tasted and now it is one of the easiest to clean.

I have exactly the same problem with my Krups 936, which I was given 2nd hand. I am wondering if it is a problem with limescale.
You have to push down the water basket in the back, unless you press it down it will not work. I bought one of these machines and I am working on my third replacement in less than a year. Krups has possibly the worst brand on the market. Lots of room for improvement. Yours will break in a month or two so you should probably return it now. FYI - their customer service is 100% automated. Don't expect to speak with someone. -Tim
I have a 4020 and have a similiar problem, water flows without ground coffee, but once coffee is tapped to the filter, it can't make coffee..
