Krups GVX2-12 Electric Burr Grinder Questions & Answers
Machine starts but wont continue to run
I experienced the same problem with my GVX2 grinder: after pushing the start button the motor starts but immediately stops.
It appeared that the capacitor C1 (0,47 uF/275V X2) that reduces the high AC voltage in the power supply was damaged. After replacing this capacitor the machine runs perfect again.
WARNING: the GVX2 has a power supply without transformer so it's extremely dangerous to work on it while connected to 220 V AC supply. Always disconnect the equipment from the high voltage AC power supply before opening it and before working on it ! Don't touch anything when the case is removed and when it's connected to higher power (eg 220 V AC) supply.
Attached for your convenience - and without any liability or warranty from me - the schematics I've drawn from the printed circuit board of my apparatus. It your own responsibility to check if it is right and if it can be applied to your own apparatus.
How to disassemble krups GVX coffee grinder
It's pretty simple when you know how.
Yeh, it's a very cheap Grinder to replace (£30) but when you can buy a pair of burr plates at £8 which includes p&p, it's worth the 40 minute fix, even if for curiosity and satisfaction!
Krups GVX2-12 Electric Burr - Thermal Fuse
Open the grinder by removing both knobs.
The front knob is held in place by friction. Use two flat head screwdrivers to pry it off.
The side knob is held in by tabs you have to push. Pry forward to expose the tab, and use another screwdriver to press the tab, and use the other screwdriver to press the tab on the other side.
Now look at the bottom of the grinder. There are four tabs on the outer shell, use screwdriver s to pry the tabs to separate the bottom of the grinder from the shell, and pull off the shell. Your fuse should be attached to the motor wiring coil.
Krups Grill FDE3
If NO LIGHTS come on and not a single thing operates, I too would say that it's most probably the THERMAL SWITCH, activated when the motor gets too hot and is in danger of damage. A very cheap electronic device, quick and easy to remove and replace.
My KRUPS GVX 2 Burr
some grinders had gotten lodged in the smaller crack between the grinder cover and the case, preventing it from settling in . cleaned with small knife, wallah!
How to disassemble it to
Just adding to dhelkamp's instructions (which helped me immensely!).
The front quantity knob kan be pulled right out - it's held in place by friction only.
The side knob has 3 latches holding it in place. Releasing 2 is sufficient. Use 2 small flat screwdrivers.
As for the assembly, there are 4 latches in the inner assembly holding it in place. The location of these latches can be seen by looking at the edge of the outer shell. The front latches are just behind the holes for the rubber feet, and the rear latches are just in front of the rear holes. Use a flat screwdriver to release one of the front latches, while pressing down on the outer shell - it should give way 1-2 mm. Repeat on each of the other 3 latches, whilst keeping pressure on the outer shell. The cover should easily slide off the grinder assembly. Beware of getting pinched!
I bought a Krups GVX2
I know that this machine is sensitive with the lids needing to be securely fastened (both the top and the plastic catch bottom container) maybe that is it.
