Mine was the same problem, I had never descaled it.Just put some white vinegar in the water container and put it through a few times then do the same with fresh water to rinse it.

Turn the machine off and unplug it from the wall for 10 seconds. It may just have a capsule stuck inside. Doing this will get the machine to eject any capsules when it is turned back on.

SOURCE: Nespresso C100

I just posted that I had the same problem, and then I thought to call Nespresso. They suggested trying a different capsule, as nothing actually holds it in place, other than its own lip. Sometimes a capsule (or sleeve of capsules) will have a defective lip, and that will cause it to drop right through rather than holding itself in place.

SOURCE: water leaks from the top of the C190 Espresso Machine

in our case the problem was fixed easily: the metal piece in which the capsule sits is screwed in on the top. When it became loose our machine started to leak water from the top. So the problem was solved by retightening it!

SOURCE: Nespresso C100 - nothing comes

  • Sounds like you need to descale the capsule.
  1. Remove capsule.
  2. empty capsule, container and drip tray.
  3. Now rinse your machine by pressing the rinse button.
  4. Fill a container with Nespresso descaler and 1/2 liter or water. DO NOT use vinegar, this can ruin your maker.
  5. Make sure to have the pot in place.
  6. Now lift filter, insert filter, close lever.
  7. Now press the two coffee cup buttons buttons together for 3 seconds.
  8. Let the solution run through twice.
  9. Now remove the filter.
  10. Now empty, rinse and fill water tank with fresh water.
  11. Now rinse the machine again by pressing the rinse button.
  12. Press the two coffee cup buttons together again for 3 seconds to exit cleaning.
  • When minerals build up it will overflow as you say it is. Descaling is necessary to proper functioning.

SOURCE: Nespresso machine does not punch hole on the capsules after close

This problem is most likely being caused by air being trapped in the system. To fix this, please follow the following steps: -

- Turn on the Machine, ensuring there is water in the tank
- Wait until the light stops flashing and the machine is ready for use
- Lift the silver lever on top of the machine into the upright position
- Press the coffee button on your machine
- Push the silver lever back, away from you, and hold it in this position for 3 seconds
- Press the coffee button again to stop the water flow

This procedure releases the air blockage in the system and your machine should function normally again.

Coffee pod stuck in machine

These machines are designed to use only Nespresso capsules. The UMilk, particularly, is susceptible to jamming if so-called "compatible" capsules are used, as the capsule is pierced electroncally, not manually as in most of the Nespresso range of machines.
Hope this helps, Rob.

My nespresso c190 makes coffee watery

Have you decalcified the machine? They need descaling about once every year - 18 months, and one MUST use the Nespresso Descaling Pack, which is designed for all Nespresso machines. I can't understand why the capsule holder is tight, unless you have used so-called "Nespresso Compatible" capsules, which can cause this. The machines are designed for use only with genuine Nespresso capsules.

Are you using genuine nespresso capsules? Are they seating properly. Open the slot where you put the capsule in and check its very clean and nothing is stuck in there.
Have you tried resetting to factory settings?

My Nespresso Xn250140 U doesn't work. Why?

Check the hole where you put the capsule, are there any faults or obstructions visible? If not be very suspicious of your capsules, there are lots of brands of Nespresso coffeemakers and the capsules have slight variations between the different brands. The variations are almost invisible but enough to prevent the wrong capsules being used.

DeLonghi Nespresso U not puncturing capsule

Not a fan of nespresso, a lot of cheap plastic. I am guessing the pivot for the capsule puncture arm has worn out allowing some play in it, which is keeping it from closing all the way just a guess, but it is an issue I have fixed before.

Our machine does not puncture the Nespresso capsule - so we only get murky water.

I just had the same problem with my new (less than one month use) Nespresso U. (the top of the capsule doesnt puncture and only water comes through). I called Nespresso customer service and a very helpful man suggested I run water through three times by pushing the top slider open with the Longa button pushed and then closed without a capsule in the chamber. That released the air bubble and now I am enjoying a wonderful cappuccino again! The customer service is fabulous, there was never a suggestion of charging me and I was told that Nespresso will send me a free loaner machine if anything goes wrong in the future that can be readily fixed over the phone. The Nespresso U is the best thing I ever bought.

Nespresso essenza problem

It's not supposed to make holes in the capsule until the water comes through. So, basically, when you put the capsule in, it pierces the capsule in three spots, on the top. The aluminum part will not pierce until you press the button and water comes through. If water is not coming through, then you can clear the air bubble by opening the lever on top of the machine, pressing the coffee button, and then closing the lever once the water begins to come through.
