Hi:
I have a brother hl-2040 laser that has worked just fine until recently. I moved it from one room to another and powered it up. Now all the LEDs are lit and the printer doesn't seem to work (i.e., no fan sound, no churning, etc., etc.) HELP?! What can I do to get back to printing again? I took out the drum/toner cartridge and put it back in thinking perhaps it was jostled loose, but still no go. Plenty of paper, etc., etc. Toner cartridge is only two months old. Drum still had plenty of life...
I tried the "printer reset to defaults" instruction provided by Brother to no avail (i.e., hold the go button down while turning the printer on) the LEDs remain lit and do not turn off...
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Thanks,
~Eric
Turn it on and when all the LEDs light up, THEN press the Go button. One or more LEDs will stay lit and the others will be off. Look in the user manual (you can find it online at the Brothers site if you don't have one). There is a chart in the Troubleshooting section that will tell you what problem your particluar combination of "lit" buttons indicates. It may suggest fixes, or depending on the problem, tell you to see a repair person.
