F2 usually takes you to the BIOS setup screen, you need to hit the keys as soon as you power up.

F12 selects on a Dell instant boot menu to select booting from CD-ROM, USB, etc rather than the BIOS options.

F8 goes to safe mode start up for windows, this must be done before the windows logo comes up (ie when it is a black screen).

Control - Alt -Delete Keys together can be used any time, after windows boots as it tells it to re-boot the computer, back to start up.

SOURCE: A disk read error occurred. the comp. said press ctrl+alt+del

The computer cannot find the operating system, the disk error message means it cannot find the hard disk, you most likely have a faulty hard disk or less likely a faulty disk controller.

You can test the hard disk by removing it and connecting it to a USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer cannot detect this drive as an external drive then you will know your hard drive is faulty ad you need to buy a new one and install Windows and programs etc..

SOURCE: Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart error

Is it a black screen right when you boot your computer? If so this could be a fatal disk error and the harddrive has crashed.

There is no easy fix other than to replace the harddrive.

Toshiba satellite l305-s5933 computer stuck on the Toshiba leading innovation screen. it have the option to press F2 or F12, but it don't work

Try removing the hard disk and check if after removing HDD is must show "Boot Device Not Found" , if it shows the same it means your HDD is faulty or loose connect try reconnecting it , if remain same replace the HDD. This problem happen in common due to HDD failure as system keep on trying to detect the connected HDD but unable to detect it.

Press delete enter to set up so what can i do nothing is working

Sound you are trying to get into the BIOS, some use key F2,F8, or F10, it will say very fast what the correct key is, it might be very fast.

The first item is the key or key combination. The second is the model of PC or the maker of the BIOS. You'll see some companies listed many times, with different keystrokes. That's normal. (It's not that manufacturers can't make up their minds. It's just that they change suppliers and use different BIOS setups.)
Delete: AMI or Award BIOS.
Esc: Toshiba
F1: Toshiba; Phoenix; some IBM PS/1 models.
F10: Compaq.
F2: NEC.
Insert: IBM PS/2.
Tab: eMachines.
Reset button (press twice): Some old Dells.
Ctrl-Alt-+: Various computers.
Ctrl-Alt-?: Some old IBM PS/2 models.
Ctrl-Alt-Enter: Some Dells, others.
Ctrl-Alt-Esc: AST, Tandon, others.
Ctrl-Alt-Ins: Zenith PCs, Phoenix BIOS.
Ctrl-Alt-S: Phoenix BIOS.
Ctrl-Alt-Shift with Del (on number pad): Olivetti.
Ctrl-Esc: Many PCs.
Ctrl-Ins: Some IBM PS/2s.
Ctrl-S: Phoenix BIOS.
Ctrl-Shift-Esc: Tandon
