Epson R1800. More times than not the paper will not feed properly

When using either feeder if quite often doesn't feed the paper through. It will either give the printer message that it is jammed or it just shoots the paper straight through.
I like to print on moab entrada and use the back feeder and still have the same problem. When I finally do get a print...usually 6 ot 7 tries...the prints are beautiful. Help!

SOURCE: paper sent through without printing

You should try cleaning the pick up roller. It may be your paper has quite a dusty surface and this will cling to the pick up roller making it less grippy. When the paper is fed it may not make the first sensor in the expected time and thus creates the error. Get a service manual to show you how to get a t the pick up roiller so you can remove and clean it. You can get Platen Cleaner from many web sites and it is specifically formulated to regain friction os such rollers. Try either: http://wwwTheServiceManualShop.com or http://mikeburton.tradebit.com/ for a service manual

SOURCE: printing is crooked

if paper comes out straight, and lines in paper are not straight then there is problem wit laser unit, its not installed corrrectly, also you can check drum unit and transfer belt for correct installation.

SOURCE: paper feeder is not straight

I found the problem with the image coming out skewed.

When the toner cartridge is replaced it is easy to dislodge one of the springs on the inside .

There is one on the left and one on the right side.
If one comes loose then the paper will feed through crooked.

SOURCE: automatic document feeder doesn't feed

Possible a piece of paper is in the paper path, you will need to check all the rollers and insure there is no paper remains.

Paper not feeding for epson nx400

Check the following:

  • • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, behind the tab, then press in the tab on the edge guide and slide it against the paper. Make sure the paper is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.

  • • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

  • • If the paper doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the c:\users\home\appdata\local\temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif Stop button, then open the scanner and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

  • • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side up.

  • • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

  • • Make sure you load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

• If the paper jams, do the following:

1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.

2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson Stylus NX400 off and then back on.

If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.

Epson Stylus R1800 refuses to accept art paper through the single sheet feeder at the rear When loading the paper the unit will pull it into the correct location and then on print command it backs the...

First check to see if there any any bits of paper stuck by checking the front and the rear feeder.
Also consult your manual to see if it accepts that thickness of paper.
It can be found here:
http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/r1800_/r1800_ug.pdf
The steps in the manual to clear a jam are on page 89 and types of accepted paper are on page 11.
Hope this helps.

Trying to print on a #10 envelope from iMac 27 with Os 10.5.1 using iWork. Printer will not load paper

I am on an iMac using OSX 10.5.8 and printing on an Epson R1800. With iWork, word processing module I set up the envelope to print and under the File menu, select page setup and choose #10 Envelope with Portrait orientation. I feed the envelope into the printer in the normal horizontal, top first, print surface up. In the File menu I select Print and hit Return. Most of the time this works. Sometimes the envelope feeds through without printing, and occasionally the envelope won't feed but the printer goes through the printing cycle. The R1800 is not the ideal envelope printer. It is made to print photos on photographic paper. I use an old fashioned typewriter to address envelopes.

Hi - I too am having an issue with my R1800 loading XMAS CARD STOCK paper.....I tried cleaning the rollers as per the EPSON web site. Although, I used alcohol in stead of water. I made sure I got the little roller way down under the paper and it seems better...although not 100%. Hope this helps!

Flash feed paper & ink light my epson r1800 printer

Do you mean that the paper light flashes at the same time as the ink light or do they flash alternately (ie: paper on, ink off -> paper off, ink on)?

If so the waste ink pads are full and you need to do the following:

1. Reset the waste ink counter:
Grab the tool linked from the wasteink.co.uk site (see bottom).

2. Redirect your waste ink into an external tank OR replace your waste ink pads.. (external tank is easier).

Instructions for the R1800 are available from this site

If the lights are doing something different, please post again with detailed information about how they flash and I can what else it might mean.

Hope that helps.

EPSON R1800

Clean the rollers down where the paper sets in the printer. Do not use cheap generic matte coated paper. Some generic matte coated paper will leave a film on your rollers and cause them to not grip the paper.

Epson R1800 refuses fine art papers

Hi Fruitless, Last night I was tearing my hair out trying to get my R1800 to accept some Hahnemuhle Satin 310, and it was just passing through and passing through. About once in 20 trys it would finally print. I was in the middle of making up my own paper profiles for this lovely paper. Anyway, I gave up at about 1:30 am, and went to bed. Today I resumed my attack, and guess what fella, there is a solution. Pass this on to everyone. You did not say what version of Photo Shop you were using. I just got my CS3 a week ago, and if you are using it, you can open a photo for printing. Go to Printing Preferences Dialog Box, > click on Maintenance Tab, and then click on the Bottom button that is labeled as Printer & Options Information. The Printer and Options Dialog Box opens, and there at the bottom is a box that says Thick Paper right beside it. Select or check this box and enjoy yourself thereafter. I did not see this in the User's Guide, but knew there had to be an answer to this problem somewhere. No problems ever since. Best of luck.
