Hi I have refilled my Lexmark X5630 , BUT IT STILL SHOWS THAT THE CARTRAGE NEEDS TO BE FILLED ;PLEASE ADVICE

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled/remanufactured cartridges. They tend to degrade print quality and printer/cartridge performance.
Note that once a cartridge is refilled, it can no longer register its ink level.

Lexmark 3650 won't recognise refilled cartridge

You should take it back and exchange it if you had it refilled at any of the cheap refill places.or read on below.

Most modern cartridges have an ink level chip built on to them.
Should the level drop below 25% then most of these chips lock up and will not reset.

Re-filling them will have no effect

If you are lucky you should be able to find either a chip resetter around on the internet

OR

Even better empty cartridges that never need to be reset.
The second option is my preference

I realise these are not for your specific printer but there are others listed on both those sites as well

I am seeing more and more CHEAP cartridges fail esp. with the chip or not full tanks etc.

Printer says black cartridge is empty. I just refilled it

It is highly unlikely to be how you refilled it BUT

Most modern cartridges have an ink level chip built on to them.

Should the level drop below 25% then most of these chips lock up and will not reset.
As far as the printer is concerned the cartridge is still empty.

If you are lucky you should be able to find either a resetter-cli8-pgi5.html" rel=nofollow target=_blank>chip resetter around on the internet

OR

Even better empty cartridges that never need to be reset.

That's the option I like I realise these are not for your specific printer but there are others listed on both those sites as well

I know the links are not for your model but they give you the idea and your printer will probably be on those sites too.

Refilling cartridges

For that printer: there are 4 color and 4 black cartridges BESIDES the #31 photo cartridge. Lexmark has made it so you MUST either, throw away or send to them, the 36 and 37, the 36XL and 37XL. The printer will never again recognize them after they are removed from the printer...
However, the 36XLA and 37XLA AND the 36A and 37A as well as the 31 Photo may be removed from the printer, refilled, and reinstalled.

I have seen some forums that say you can but a piece of BLACK tape, across the bottom row of contacts on the non-refillable cartridges....I believe there are 4 to 7 contacts across the bottom row only.....and the printer will still give you a message that it needs ink.....but it WILL print. I have not tested this theory yet though. I have just gotten the first message saying my black ink is very low.

Hope this helps and I think Lexmark Corporation Sucks for tricking people like this. (This printer comes with the NON refillable cartridges as default, but I did NOT see in the documentation that it couldn't be refilled. Nasty people........:(

Good Luck~~! [email protected]

Refilling cartridges

Joe,

You should have received control program software with your printer. If installed, the icon should be on your desktop or it may be in your programs list. You can also get the software from the Lexmark web site.

Anyway, you probably need to reset the cartridge using the control program. It's not difficult. Just follow the prompts.
