I have an 11 cf upright freezer. it has been running most of the time or at least make a noise. and I just defrosted it. and its still doing the same thing. any comments?

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire freezer is making noise and you have recently defrosted it, but your freezer is still making the noise. Your freezer will make certain noises which are normal operating noises for the freezer.

The compressor is a high efficiency so you may hear it during start up and while running. Additionally, refrigerant circulating through your freezer can make a tapping sound or even a gurgling noise. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

Refrigerator will not defrost

Remove the kick plate grill at base of refrigerator and turn the timer clockwise slow until compressor stops. That should be beginning of the defrost cycle. After a few minutes look inside freezer or listen for crackling or hissing noise. That should indicate defrost. After 25 minutes if it does not restart then turn again until it restarts. Replace defrost timer. Let me know what happens, Thanks Sea Breeze

MAYTAG MZD2766GE makes a loud buzzing noise coming from the top of the refrigerator side I think it is when the defrost cycle begins

OK I'm going to ask you some questions about your ice maker. No Problems? You said you noticed this sound around defrost time and have you ever had problems with defrost on this refrigerator before? The way it sounds from here is something related. So I will list them in order of most likely. That would be the adaptive defrost control part number Click Here=> 61005988 then the other two less likely are the defrost heater part number Click Here=> 61006199 When the ADC begins to go bad strange things may happen, The compressor and fans are surposed to shut off and then the defrost heater comes on. Afte defrost begins to reach 50 degrees inside back wall of freezer the defrost thermostat opens to keep the defrost heater from remaining on and defrosting the complete freezer. This for me is a guess and go situation because I am not there to see and hear what you do. So to insure we both are well informed I will leave you with a Service Manual Click Here=> MZD2766GE Your manual covers several models and on page 42 shows a defrost timer and that would be less likely to create strange sounds. If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, www.pcappliancerepair.com
Thanks, Sea Breeze

Refrigetator side is not cooling -JSD2789GES

No you may not fix it but you will know how to repair it and you can order the parts yourself. Find out if you have the defrost timer or the adaptive defrost inside the control panel inside the fresh food compartment. If timer turn clockwise until compressor stops running and the freezer should begin defrost. If the freezer begins defrost the defrost should end in about 25 minutes and the compressor should begin running again. If it does not the the timer is defective. If you would like the manual email me at [email protected]

Freezer

If the freezer is in defrost then the freezer fan should be off. Only on the electronic will the freezer fan come on in defrost but the freezer door has to be held open for 3 min before the fan comes on

Noise

When the freezer goes into defrost mode, some thumping/popping noises can sometimes be heard as the defrost heater melts the ice built up on the evaporator. Quite normal.
