The ice dispenser no longer operates and in the dark of night the light turns on and the dispenser flapper starts flapping wildly on its own adn making a loud grunting noise. Do we need an exorcist

Check your fan next to the compressor if it's running ,also check your evaporator fan if it's running.
If both fans are running and you still have ice built-up then you may have a refrigerant leak

Ice Maker

Yes... Hello sjscycle (Steve), Good thinking A No water CONDITION in the ice tray would tend to POINT FAULT at the (ice-cube) water valve... but The voltage for the valve comes from the ice head.. If you can negotiate (fit a water bottle up into the ice tray)... if the tray cycles & does not refill... it is VERY LIKELY... If the part were more exotic or expensive it might be WORTH the RISK of live voltage testing... Personally I WON'T RECOMMEND live testing... The fitting appears to be the new (easy to use) press type... Press white collar to RELEASE... Press tube directly into valve... SIMILAR to the new SHARK Bite solderless fittings now available in most hardware stores (nice & easy). Watch the attached video... and decide for yourself. Electric shock (if not fatal) is quite painful to most. Let's watch the (2) videos (you will be happier). Video, part & price http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-water-inlet-valve-61005626-ap4071513.html Appliancepartspros DIAGRAMS http://www.appliancepartspros.com/parts-for-maytag-mzd2766ges.html Partselect.com (another video) Whirlpool 61005626 Double Outlet Water Valve PartSelect Part select's trouble probabilities http://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSymptoms.aspx?ModelNum=MZD2766GES&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1&Source=msac&term=MZD2766GES&utm_source=adcenter&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=bing&match=p&utm_content=m13775907013&sw=partselect+water+valve+mzd2766ges&ModelMasterID=224891&PID=12 You will notice... at no time did the word "Sears" get recommended (same parts... ((get them elsewhere).. Unless SEARS suddenly starts giving them away). Hope MY OPINION helps. Carnac the Magnificent

Does not cool either side fan runs and compressor

2 possible issues. If compressor running, but not cooling - No freon in the system, or compressor valves are bad, not compressing freon. Ideal would be to check pressures on the system while its running. Could be some kind of restriction. most common problem i would guess low freon level. Here are 2 of my videos i have on my channel. first is leak found at evaporator coils. i used leak dye to find it, second video is replacing compressor, but had compressor completely down. installed 3-n-1 hard start kit, but compressor did not come on, so replaced compressor with filter drier. Hope this will give you an idea what to do next.

The water/ice service panel on the outside of my

Hello,

The problem with those auto light panel`s is the device (photo-cell) responsible for sensing when to activate the light is common to fail. But before replacing it, follow the direction`s below to secure the ribbon connector to insure it is making a good connection.

Unfortunately the failed component is integrated into the outer trim and which can only be resolved by replacing the outer panel assembly called an ``escutcheon`` part # 61005386 and retail`s for around $120-$150, so I`d shop around.

It is easy to replace if need be, but as you can see not cheap. If you do change it, make sure you shut off the breaker before pulling the escutcheon/front panel off. If you look at the panel from the bottom, you should see a couple of slot`s just large enough to slide a small flat screwdriver behind to allow you to pry it off. From there you can lift it up and off, (careful not to scratch the freezer door) but you`ll need to unplug the ``ribbon connector`` from the panel/escutcheon. Reverse this when installing the new part and you should be fine.

Hope that helps. Good luck and thank`s for visiting fixya.

Mzd2766geb maytag ref freezer door insulation frozen solid with ice

Even if the unit if issue free, this older design is still suseptable to moisture intrusion behind the inner liner. If your ice is below or around where the fointain area is, than you may be leaking water from the fountain behind the outer door shell. Since your outer door and inner liner are no longer avail, the best suggestion is to turn the entire fridge off, and let everything completely dry before re assembly. Once insulation gets imbedded with moisture and freezes, the insulation factor diminishes. Although your outer door insulation should be the newer style semi solid foamed in style, so moisture intrusion will not be any deeper than an inch or so. If the fountain heater has failed around the dispenser, you attract moisture to that area too. Pleazer Appliance...

Slowly stopped cooling

you dont give any detail at all, so my best guess is you have a sealed system leak of refrigerant. This is NOT something you can repair yourself, only an EPA Certified Refrigerator Repair service can perform these types of repairs. Its possible it might be something else, I am just guessing after all, i would have a qualified refrigerator repair service inspect and diagnose your fridge.
