Too much water to ice maker

How do I adjust/decrease the amount of water sent to the ice cube trays/ice maker, it overflows and makes a giant block of ice in the bin, which in turn snaaps the auger/bit. Can I adjust?

How to fix lower freezer, the water dispenses too much into ice cube tray so it overflows into ice bin...

There is an adjustment on your icemaker that controls the amount of water that enters the tray during the fill cycle. Find it and turn it counterclockwise to lessen the water in tray so it does not overflow.

Or, check to make sure that the fill solenoid is shutting down properly (could be sticking)- if not excessive water will enter the tray with same result.

Just recently, the ice maker stop dumping the ice cubes from the tray into the bin.

I believe the "tray" is supposed to get heated at end to let the ice release. Faulty "heater connection?" May need repairman diagnostic.

Excess water delivered to ice maker

That will depend on type of ice maker and model number of refrigerator. At times the water control valve will stick because of age or just leaking while off like a dripping faucet. Can you find model number of your whirlpool? I do have some repair manuals for ice makers if they are not the electronic type. Sea Breeze

My ice maker is letting too much water go into the ice tray so it freezes in a solid piece. Cubes do fall down but there is so much water it freezes into a solid block

The icemaker produces small cubes if the water fed into it is not enough and lumped together if too much water is supplied. In order to obtain the desired size of ice cubes, the amount of water supplied to the ice maker needs to be adjusted. Adjust the valve supplying water to the icemaker or the unit in general in such a way that right amount of water fills the ice tray.

My icemaker overflows and does not produce cubes but a solid block of ice over the unit and down into the cube reception tray and over the bottom of the freezer unit. Have removed all the ice and restarted...

Hi
you need to adjust the water level, carefully remove the front cover of the ice maker itself.
On the front of the ice maker, there is a small nylon screw that controls the water intake amount.
If the screw is turned to the Right, it will Decrease the amount of water entering the ice maker.
If the screw is turned to the Left, it will Increase the amount of water entering the ice maker.
The screw should only be turned 1/4 of a turn at a time; therefore, more than one adjustment may be required.
The maximum adjustment is one full turn in either direction. Additional rotation could damage the ice maker..
OR
Dirty icemaker water valve or broken valve can cause icemaker to overflow.

Ice Maker Overfills With Water

Ice maker has adjustment on right side of power head. If ice maker is inside on upper left, you can remove white cover from it and the adjusting screw in on right. Turning counter-clockwise will decrease fill by 1/2 to 3/4 of ounce. Sounds like a small amount, but ice make only uses 4 ounces per fill. If this does not fix, try replacing fill valve. If ice maker ice bin is in the freezer door, you have to remove cover to ice maker in the top of freezer. Ice maker is screwed into top of freezer and need to be removed to take off cover to adjuster screw. same procedure for reducing water flow time as above.
