Printer alarm Brother 1440

Alarm light on. no printing.  unsure what the alarm means.  New cartarige installed
Printer may print one page then alarm returns

    I had the same problem -all the lights blinking, printer not responding. I tried the fix and it seemed to work. Then when I went to print it started printing out page after page of gobbledy-gook. Any suggestions?

    My drum light is on and the unit will not print. Tried the factory reset to no avail.

    I HAVE A BROTHER PRINTER 1440, THE PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING IS THAT WHEN I PRINT THE FORM OF CALYX THE INFORMATION IS PRINTING BACKWARDS LIKE WHEN YOU PUT A PAPER IN FRONT OF A MIRROR.

    the alarm and data lights are both on and when i go to print nothing happens. i can push the button beneath the lights several times and sometimes it will print out one sheet, and then go back to its inactive status.

    alarm light stays on. does not print. should I purchase a new drum for it? Should I get a new printer? I had it for about 2 to 3 years.

Use the following steps to perform a Factory Reset:

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer.
  3. Turn the printer back on.
  4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button.
  5. Hold in the circular button on the front panel again.
  6. Once the Alarm light comes on, let go of the button.

Printer Won't Print
Follow the link below for what the lights on the machine mean. I know that if your alarm and data light are on it means the toner is empty, and you wont be able to print, you would need to replace the toner cartridge, please follow the link below.

Brothers HL 1440 laser printer. After turning off printer and turning it back on, it will print one page and then the red Alarm light comes on and it will not print agains until I turn it off and back on....

When the data and alarm light are on it means the toner is empty. You will need to replace the toner cartridge.

Will not print anything..Stpped in the middle of 6 page job (after 4 pages) ..Solid red alarm light on, yellow data light, on. Will not even print test page
Your toner cartridge is empty. Time to replace it.

If you look at your manual for error codes or on the brother website they will show what what the various blinky lights are telling you.

Ready light doesn't stay lit, alarm light is red
Because I was getting gray shading on my pages and data was still being printing, I decided to change the toner cartridge. Now the pages are clean and white and all the lights function properly. Most cartridges that are running on empty don't print any data at all or at least print the data at the top of the page and gradually gets fainter sp? on the page. Who would have thought just by changing the cartridge would solve the problem? So glad that's all it was........wasn't excited about having to buy a new printer.

Brother HL-1440 LASER PRINTER requires ''Service Call A''.
currently, the error you have is not a service errorl, ready and alarm blink means that you have either a paper jam, no paper, or a paper misfeed.

do you get this error only when you try to print?
according to the service manual the lights can not alternate in blinking.

Printer won't print
According to the operation manual: If alarm light and data light blink every 5 seconds- TONER LOW (purchase more toner and have it ready when the 'toner empty' is indicated). If alarm light and data light stay lit- TONER EMPTY (replace toner cartrige with new one).

Hi , The error message your getting refers to the following for the Ready & Alarm Buttons Flashing.

1. Paper Jam
2. Misfeed
3. No Paper

(blinking every 5 seconds) Toner Low Indicates that the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Purchase a new toner and have it ready for when Toner Empty is indicated. (solid) Toner Empty Replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
