My screen looks like its 3D.

Your tv has a problem with the convergence, adjust it using the original remote go to the setting's menu then go to the convergence section. Adjust the convergence color red and blue the green color is your guide you cannot move this green color, then you should move the red and the blue in all direction left to right, up and down. If you cannot move the red and the blue far enough the convergence IC is defective it must be replace in order to align this convergence. Feel free to send feed back good day and best regards.

How do I adjust the convergence properties on an RCA rear projection tv?

Normally on the RCA rear projection TV's you would bring up your menu and choose the Setup menu, then press OK on the remote. That menu would then have Convergence as a choice. Once that was chosen the next menu would give you the choice of either letting the TV run it's own Autoconvergence program, or you would select either Red or Blue convergence.

Choosing Red Convergence would bring up a Yellow cross-hair in the middle of the screen. If the Convergence was not correct you would see separate Green and Red cross-hairs. Once they were perfectly aligned you would again see one Yellow cross-hair.

Choosing Blue Convergence would bring up a Blue cross-hair in the center of the screen. If the alignment was out you would see 2 Blue cross-hairs. Using the Up and Down and Left and Right cursor keys you would adjust the alignment until a single solid Blue cross-hair was in the center of the screen.

Hi. My Sony Videoscope XBR's Convergence Allignment

I happen to share this same problem. The alignment of the gridlines on the standard convergence panel are completely abnormal, and if I attempt to auto-adjust the TV, it flashes different colors on the sides of the screen , and then turns off the convergence settings.

Sony projection TV colors out of alignment

Solution:
You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

>>>Solution<<<<

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors.

Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com.
They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.

Convergence problem? Blue shifted to the left, red/green are okay

If your model number is the PT53WX53 its a rear projection CRT television not a DLP. The PT53WS53 uses two STK392-110 convergence ICs. If you verify the model number of your set I can assist you.

PT-47WX53G green convergence and wave on bottom of screen

Had same problem with Red. Could not adjust. Funny broken lines. Found this link:

http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html

Replaced the ICs. Was disappointed at first 'cause it was still all bowed out, but then realized that the Convergence 2 "target" can be changed with the number keys. Working thru 1-9 and going back to readjust as necessary adjusted each one into perfect alignment.

Problem solved. TV works great.

I should add that while I am reasonable technically adept, I am a software geek and never soldered before... hardest part was getting up the courage to dive in and do it myself. Glad I did.

Blue Multipoint converge failure Philips 55PP9753

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
