Blue Multipoint converge failure Philips 55PP9753

My set has blue ghosting along the outer 1/4 screen (both sides) with the center 1/2 looking normal.  I'm able to converge both the blue and red single points (fyi, both are good).  The multipoint red is aligned but the multipoint blue is WAY off on both sides.
My problem: I can't converge the multipoint blue settings.  The + will not move left/right but will move up/down.
Is this indicitive of a bad chip/board/circuit?  Any idea of the cost to repair if I go to a shop or if I can do something myself?
Thank you

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,PioneerBlue Multipoint converge failure Philips 55PP9753 - 2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

Is there a code number that needs to be entered to bring the convergence pattern or menu on screen.

From a user standpoint you would follow these steps to bring up your Convergence menu:

1) Press your MENU button.

2) Press the Right Cursor Button to enter the Picture menu.

3) Press the Down Cursor Button until you highlight the MANUAL CONVERGENCE choice on the menu.

4) You will then see the following choices on the right hand side of the menu: Convergence Red, Convergence Blue, Multipoint Red, Multi Blue, Save Multipoint.

5) Once you choose either the Red or Blue choices you will get a crosshair in the middle of your screen. You will then use either your Up, Down, Left, or Right Cursor buttons to get the two images to line up correctly. If you still have multi images on your screen in either Red or Blue you would then have to adjust the Multipoint choice for that color.

Multipoint blue convergence cannot be adjusted

Sound like you need to replace the STK's and any blown pico's on convergence board.

The color is way off on the tv. It also looks curved, like if there are words on the tv they go up at an angle toward the edges of the tv. When you try to align the color on the tv you can get the center...

I have a yellow line on the right side of my Toshiba 50 rear projection TV and yellow shadows around people

It sounds like a convergence problem---go into the customer menu and select convergence---set should offer center and multipoint adjustment--in the multipoint look to see if the outer crosses adjust--if red or blue will not adjust somewhere--bad convergence IC's.

Screen hazzy and issue with blue convergence

bad convergence would cause show to look as if it was supposed to be a 3-d movie, if a bulb was going out then people would look purple blue -green,or some other off color, so likely the green bulb is going out from the color of the people you described.

PHILIPS 50P8341 60 IN.

Check the other posts for convergence problems. This may be what you're experiencing. Have you tried bringing it in with multipoint convergence? It's under Menu -> Picture -> Manual Converge -> Multipoint Red and Multipoint Blue.
