Player is increasingly unable to read new dvds. Cause?

Sometimes it is due to a dirty read lens in the unit. More often it is due to newer DVDs having newer security encryption algorithms that the older units are not compatible with. You may want to check to see if there are any firmware upgrades for your unit that may bring it more up to date on the current encryption standards.

The exact model of DVD player matters. Not all models can play a Computer burned disc.
There are several types of DVD
A factory type DVD in DVD format
A burned movie in MPEG format
a burned disc in DivX format.
Etc.
Try burning the disc with a DVD Creator program, not just 'Burn to DVD'. It's not the same thing.

Region Code errors

You can read everything on dvdexploder.com about region free options with every brand. BUT you only get four of five chances. Frankly, I would download Anydvd from Slysoft.com and get everything region free from then on.

Will not play dvd says reading disk then no disk

I had the same problem with mine. Will it play CDs? If so, I may have the solution. If it will play CDs it isn't a lense problem. If you take the cover off you will see ribbon cables on the DVD end of the machine. Carefully disconnect them and use a pencil eraser to clean the ends of the ribbons where the contacts are. Then reconnect them. This solved the problem on my machine. Good luck!

When I insert a DVD

Hi,

Good day. The message your getting only tells you that the Dvd your trying to play have a lot of scratches already that makes it unreadable for your dvd player. You can try to wipe the dvd first then try it again. If it doesn't work then that means the dvd unusable. Hope this information help a bit in resolving your question. Dvd player says no disk

does it read other disks?
try a few difference DvD's.
if other disks work, the disk you want to read is broken.
if other disks do not work, your dvd player is broken and you should get a new one or contact JVC if it is still under warranty.

I used my Pioneer DVD-RAM

Hi, You can try testing the discs on a different player. The problem may be with a scratched disc or damaged disc. The player seems to be fine if it works with other discs. In any case, I have provided a link to the player's manual: http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/jvc/jvc_xv_n320b_xvn320b.html

Lock

Hi there,

The disc lock function has been activated on your JVC XV-N320, when in this mode the tray cannot be opened or closed.

If you press the 'eject' button whilst pressing down the 'stop' button on the machine in standby mode the disc lock will deactivate. To turn it back on you follow the same procedure. This is also described in the user manual for this model of TV umder trouble shooting on page 13.

Hope this helps,

James
