I have an older model Whirlpool ED20PK side by side and the freezer is way too cold (frozen solid) but the refrigerator side is too warm. We have tried adjusting the controls but it doesn't help. Could it be that something is blocked and cold air from the freezer is not flowing into the refrigerator. I understand the freezer air cools the refrigerator side. I have made sure that food is not blocking any flow of air. This refrigerator has an ice maker but we have never had it hooked up.
You might have a bad defrost timer
This can be caused by lots of faults first inspect the evaporator in the back of the freezer for ice build up if this is the case the defrost system has a fault, if not the unit that opens between the wall of the freezer and the fridge may be faulty check for the grills opening and closing

your sure the defrost cycle works? sounds to me its not. you need to remove the freezer back and check the defrost components. or put it in the defrost cycle and see if it is working. to get that much frost as you describe the dor would have to be left open. also check all door seals. let me know what you find and we can go from there
SOURCE: Water not flowing into ice maker
yes there is a problem with the water valve or the fill tube that puts water into the ice maker is frozen not letting water into the ice maker
SOURCE: Ice Maker
Likely that the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.
Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.

it over filling or it leaking from the mold i never seen thi model over filled mold when i see wtr in bin is usually the mold that is leaking you can check with a mirror or remove to inspect is texture is peeling off repl entire ice maker if is ok then repl wtr valve is not closing when it has filled the mold you only need 4oz of wtr

Hi,
Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
