You may have to configure the router and change some wireless settings to get it to work, goto the router configuration page, (run ipconfig /all, at a command prompt, to get the "ip address" for the rotuer config page, I believe it is the"Default Gateway" that you would enter in the address bar of IE to get to the page, (the pass will be user:Admin, Pass:Admin, orPass, or Password, or 12345 on some older ones) then click on the wireless menu's from the left.
I hope this helps, if so please give a fixya rating if it solves/helps solve your problem.
P.S. The router itself may be broken, and LAN may still work while WAN will be not working, usually buy a new router.
Thanks,
Gomez

Scaleo 600 how can i connect to internet from modem?

Plug your modem up to your phone line & plug in the power cord. If you are using an ethernet cable its should plug into the modem and into your computer. If you are connecting wirelessly, make sure you card has a wireless network card or that you have a wireless adapter. If it still doesn't work you may have to call you internet provider to make sure the modem settings correct.

I went through several modems in a week due to a multitude of lightning hits. My modem always reported itself as fine, but it never worked. I would guess that your old machine doesn't use some feature which was destroyed. I would try to find a cheap adapter; they can be found for $10 or so.

I just bought a dell laptop and the house hold has two desktops connected to ethernet cables to a dsl modem. the lap top we had connected wireless and now it wont connect unless we connect it to ethernet...

Turn on the wireless switch ON in the laptop if it has one. Check to make sure the wireless adapter appears in the Device Manager. Then check the wireless network connections on you computer - it should pick-up all surrounding wireless SSID's. Locate yours and enter the security keys for your modem when prompted. Make sure it is the correct number to get a connection. Also, check your modem settings from one of the desktop computers - there should be a web page for it by using your Internet browser, to verify that its' wireless transmitter is on.

Cannot enable wireless on my Acer Aspire 5612WLMi

First, does the modem show up in the device manager (without an exclamation mark or an "x". In other words, does the computer see the card and is it not reporting any problems.
Second, do you see the wireless connection when you go into My Network Places and Network Connections?
Third, does the wireless connection icon appear in the system tray?

Check that the wireless drivers are installed properly on both your laptop and desktop. THe certificate error is because your laptop does not "trust" your computer. Under network conections click add a connection ec, and when you try to conect, microsoft should ask you weva to trust the connections from computer to computer that should do it :D

Router won't log into it's IP address online

It appears to me that you have everything plugged into the desktop PC. This is not the way that it should be done. Plug the cable modem into the wireless router via the Internet/WAN port. Plug your desktop PC into one of the ports numbered 1-4. Now connect to the router via the wireless connection for the router and you should be able to now connect to the internet with your laptop.
If it still does not work, power down everything in this order: Laptop, Desktop, Router, Cable Modem. Bring everthing up in the reverse order (Cable Modem, Router, Desktop, Laptop) waiting for each device to stablize before moving to the next.
Once you get everything working, turn on your wireless security (WPA not WEP) asap to keep your computers and surfing safe, and to keep intruders off your network.

Cannot maintain wireless connection

Try manually add the network. If the problems continue, I would turn the laptop in for repair/replacement (if it under warranty).
