To find out if what is causing this problem. please shoot some pictures and view them on a computer. If the photos have distorted colours on the computer too, the cause is in the sensor.
If the look good on the computer, the cause is the monitor on your camera. Can be caused by lots of different things, like a broken cable, a defect on the display itself, caused after someone dropped the camera and so on.
If you can live with a "damaged" screen, you still could make pictures. If the sensor is defect, consider a new camera. Cameras are becoming better and better and in the same time they become cheaper.

CCd failure

This is a good blog on CCD failure; http://www.teleplancamerarepair.com/camera-repair-blog/post/images-apear-to-be-distorted-e28093-images-do-not-apear-e28093-Might-be-the-CCD.aspx

Goes into the distorted images you describe, explains why it fails, what it looks like and how to fix it.
While the images actually look cool it's a real drag when it happens to your camera!
Other things that happen is the images do not appear, or show with a magenta hue, or green tint.

Monitor Showing to much red

Hi,
Is it possible that your PC or Monitor is just showing more red tones? Have you checked a WHITE background like a blank webpage? Does it have a red tint too?
Do you possibly have speakers or an external fan near your computer or your monitor? If so they sometimes have magnets that will interfere with your screen.
Another thing you might want to check is to unplug the monitor cable that attaches to the computer and check and see if any of the PINS in the plug are bent.
Please let me know how this works out for you.
Thanks,
Kaj

Ink not printing the same image quality that is on computer

Issue When printing directly from a memory card, the printouts have an abnormally high red tone.
NOTE: This does not affect the prints that were originally sent from the computer. Solution Press the Photo Fix button to turn off the Photo Fix feature before printing from a memory card. Cause The Photo Fix feature was originally designed to reduce/enhance printed pictures by making colors more vibrant. However, it can also have a side-effect to make some prints have more red tone than desired. In the HP Photosmart D7100 series printer, this feature is “ON” by default.

Distorted image and color

sounds like the convergence ICs have failed. Will the red and blue move in all 4 directions when you try to adjust the convergence? If not the convergence ICs are bad replace both of them also check the resistors that power the ICs as they may be open as well.

Distorted color on image

You might have "color filter" settings. Turn the digital filters off. Here is what manual at p72 says. "You can take pictures using digital filters. The filters consist of color filters such as red, blue and green, a soft filter that produces a fuzzy effect. Color filters Eight colors, black-and-white, sepia, red, pink, violet, blue, green and yellow, are provided for the color filters. When you select a color filter in the Digital Filter mode, the display on the LCD monitor is filtered with the selected color, and the pictures are taken in that color."
