You have to talk to SONY in your country in most cases they will fix it.
Sorry to say that but I had the same issue with my Sony handycam. In my case the lcd was turned out to be defective but please call SONY.

Hello Gary, sadly lots get the LCD screen go wobbly on the camera types you have, Sony did do a recall on the problem, did you register yours? if so you could have mislaid it.
I had to send my Sony for repair as it went same as you camera has.

get it checkd by some proffesional person only.

Yes, there was a major recall exercise conducted by Sony to replace faulty CCD imagers in a wide range of Sony products. I've had the CCD in my HC20 replaced a year ago, free of charge. I strongly recommend that the camcorder be taken to an authorised service center to have this issue resolved. Thanks!

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks

the ccd image sensor of your camera is defective that why is no image you see..better go to sony service center for replacement of the sensor...
