No voices come out, sound is good, with headphones and speakers

Hey - this wasn't a problem 2 weeks ago. Sounds (movies, music, etc.) is perfect when I'm not putting my speakers or my headphones. But the minute I put those on, I can hear the music and other sounds, but the voices are really low, almost inaudible.

I've checked sound options in my panel, no apparent solution there.

I've reinstalled my sound pilot, no change.

Thanx Stefanie

This sounds like a problem with your connection for your headphones. Your headphone jack on your notebook is stereo, which means that you need stereo headphones to make it work. If you look at the tip of your plug on your headphone cord, it will have 1 black ring, or 2 black rings. 1 black ring is mono, 2 black rings is stereo.

If you are using stereo headphones, and you're still having this problem, your headphone plug is not going all the way into the jack on your notebook. Press the plug all the way into the jack and the problem should be fixed.

If you physically cannot push the plug all the way into the jack, there may be a problem with the jack on your notebook that will need to be looked at.

Hope this helps. Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

From the "Speaker Setup" pull-down menu select "Desktop Stereo Speakers".

Gateway dx4840-11e. During video can hear music but not actor voices. What to do?

do you have the sound set to surrond sound? What it sounds like is that it is trying to play through surrond speakers but you dont have them, which is why you can hear the music and not the actors voices. click with the right mouse button on the speaker in the bottom right of your screen, then click on sounds , now click on the playback tab in the sound window, click on the sound device shown and then click configure, choose stereo and choose two speakers. Continue to the end then try to play the video and see if you can now hear the voices. If you cant then you maybe missing codecs needed to play the audio correctly. Please state if this is a movie you have downloaded or a dvd film on disc etc

No Sound Through Speakers

Hi Jake,

If you haven't done so already, I'd try double checking the speaker wiring, you may have some exposed or badly kinked wires behind the unit.

Audio Problems With MP3

First thing you wanna do is to try another set of headphones. If it still sounds muffled then theres a fault in the audio output section and these things are non user serviceable. Your gonna need to send back to the manufacturer. Good Luck
