My printer won't print because there is more than one inktank of the same colour
Whenever I try to print, I get a message that there is more than one ink cartridge of the same colour (black). That's how it's supposed to be and this was not a problem when I used the printer from new in the first 6 months. THe error message says that only one ink cartridge should be used each time suggesting that there is nothing for me to do but merely a warning message that it will only use one of the two black ink cartridges. When I click OK, the message reappears and I am stuck in a loop with the only option being to cancel the print job. I reinstalled the printer twice so far with no effect.
Can anyone help?
Thanks for posting a reply informatica! Just tried taking them all out and re-inserting them in the right order but I still get the same message. I used only Canon original tanks and recently re-filled three of them (but not the "problematic one")Thanks for posting a reply informatica! Yes. I have got the same problem. More than one Cyan in my case. I take out the inktank and put it back. This sometimes work. Other times I lose patience and shakes the printer; and the problem is solved until the next print !! I'm very near to buying a new printer !!

Re:
There are 2 types of black cartridge, CLI-8Bk Black Ink Tank & PGI-5 Pigment Black Ink Tank. These must be installed in the correct order as below. Have you replaced a black cartridge & perhaps used a different type?
Here is a link you can get more info from:

When the cartridges are out clean the chip contacts as any fingerprint or dust can cause them not to be recognised properly. You can try re-seating the printhead as per this link:

Sorry looks like that link just goes to the knowledge base page. Type "printhead" in the knowledge base search to find the procedure ...Sorry looks like that link just goes to the knowledge base page. Type "printhead" in the knowledge base search to find the procedure ...

Each cartridge having printing life, as long as cartridge health condition is good it won't gives any trouble. Subjected series printer having mono & colour cartridges,1. Remove both cartridge from the printer 2. Switch on & wait till message appears for insert the cartridges..3. Insert mono(Black) cartridge, close the door & wait till message appears on screen. If message appears same as cartridge error mean that mono cartridge is faulty replace it, if message appears like insert another cartridge, it's confirmed that colour cartridge faulty.. Replace it..
I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.
Probably your printing heads or your ink has dried out. Try to clean the printingheads with a cleaning tissue and a cleaning fluid. If it doesn't work you need to replace the inktanks. The printinghead is a part of the inktank. It is the gold-colored part with the dots (the dots are actually the nozzles).

hi sand; you may try cleaning the copper in your cartridge with tissue paper and also the pins in the printer but do it slowly, and see if it works thanks
I have now found the solution elsewhere in the internet: black text only prints on the Canon i560 if selct "normal paper", but not,for instance, if you have "professional photo-paper" selected.
well? how old is your printer?. does your printer head is new?
reason why doesnt have printout:
1. the unit doesnt recognize the printer head:
solution: turn off the unit and turn it on again.
2. Defective logic board.
solution: replace logic board.
3. Defective printer head
solution: replace printer head
4. Clog printer head
solution: wash the printer head with water..make sure to dry
before you install it to the printer.
5. Defective purge unit.
solution: replace purge unit.maybe it wont suck ink because of the loose or broken springs under caping of the purge unit..
6. inktank.
solution: check the lips of inktank maybe it much shallow so it
wont touch the nozzle of printer head..
you need to cut the edge of the lips of inktank so it will touch
the nozzle of the printer head.
the colors transfer to the printhead by gravity. the felt on the inktank must make intimate contact with the stainless steel filter in the printhead. I have a pixma ip 6000D that I had to replace the printhead inside of two years three times. the bubblejet circuitry in the printhead got burned out. New heads cost from $55 to over a hundred.
