Question about Canon PIXMA iP5200R InkJet Photo Printer
Whenever I try to print, I get a message that there is more than one ink cartridge of the same colour (black). That's how it's supposed to be and this was not a problem when I used the printer from new in the first 6 months. THe error message says that only one ink cartridge should be used each time suggesting that there is nothing for me to do but merely a warning message that it will only use one of the two black ink cartridges. When I click OK, the message reappears and I am stuck in a loop with the only option being to cancel the print job. I reinstalled the printer twice so far with no effect. Can anyone help?
There are 2 types of black cartridge, CLI-8Bk Black Ink Tank & PGI-5 Pigment Black Ink Tank. These must be installed in the correct order as below. Have you replaced a black cartridge & perhaps used a different type? Here is a link you can get more info from: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=257&modelid=11994

You can try re-seating the printhead as per this link:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro...
When the cartridges are out clean the chip contacts as any fingerprint or dust can cause them not to be recognised properly.
Sorry looks like that link just goes to the knowledge base page. Type "printhead" in the knowledge base search to find the procedure ...

Thanks for posting a reply informatica! Just tried taking them all out and re-inserting them in the right order but I still get the same message. I used only Canon original tanks and recently re-filled three of them (but not the "problematic one")
Yes. I have got the same problem. More than one Cyan in my case. I take out the inktank and put it back. This sometimes work. Other times I lose patience and shakes the printer; and the problem is solved until the next print !!
I'm very near to buying a new printer !!
