Run the software cleaning utility (almost always accessible from the printer) in order to fix a clog. Replace the ink cartridge if the clog cannot be fixed or if the cartridge is almost empty. A way to physically clean the clog is using a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and wiping it on the printer cartridge head.

Canon printer mx882 not printing in black

Regarding your recent inquiry about the poor black print quality (Canon PG-225 PGBK ink cartridge) & lack of overall printing performance with your Canon MX882 printer, it sounds like your PRINTHEAD is either clogged (from dried ink) or has reached END-OF-LIFE, to help determine which please perform the following steps (if you have already performed a step, please continue to the next step in the order shown):

Canon Cartridge Troubleshooting: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1537

1.Go into the printer's maintenance/tools menu and print a print quality test (i.e. heading cleaning, nozzle test or similar) to help identify which color (of number of colors) is impacted.

NOTE: To help determine which color has run out, use the following suggestions in sequence until you are able to identify the empty color: 1) Generate a Print Quality Test Page from your printer control panel; a faded color band indicates empty. 2) To distinguish between a black and photo black cartridge, print a text document and/or a photo. Faded black in a text document indicates the black cartridge is empty; faded black in a photo indicates the photo black cartridge is empty. 3) To distinguish between cyan, yellow, and magenta click here: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=146 A faded or missing color band indicates empty.

2.At the printer's control panel under the 'Maintenance' or 'Tools' menu, activate a 'CLEANING' or 'HEAD CLEANING' to prime the ink system. Then Run the Inkjet411 'Ink Recovery Test Print' from our Test Prints page to verify all colors are firing properly (all printers also provide some form of a Self Test page): http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=146

3.Check your user's manual to see if there are any procedures on cleaning the service station/capping station assembly (this is where the carriage/cartridges 'park' when not in use). A dirty service station can cause all kinds of improper color output problems (assuming the printhead is working correctly of course). NOTE: May not be applicable for your model depending on the printer design.

4.The Ink Absorber, if applicable depending on print model, may also be full which could also cause printing related issues (typically an error code will be displayed when the ink absorber is full)...here is a customer/yahoo response on this particular issue: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130523085451AAE1TqW
5.Refer to our print quality support page to ensure other variables are not causing the issue such as printer driver settings or operating system device conflict, etc: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1432

6.If this does not remedy the problem, then one or more of the ink ports may be dry within the PRINTHEAD assembly (the ink cartridges physically connect to this electronic assembly). We suggest you either remove the printhead and perform a hot water flush for 2 minutes (in a sink) or using an eye-dropper, or similar, drip 5-10 milliliters (i.e. 1-2 teaspoons) of distilled water into the respective color ink port to help saturate the foam. http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2804

      7.Reinstall ink cartridges and retest.
      Inkjet411 Suggested PRINTHEAD Cleaning Procedures:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZheZf-vdho8 (Canon

8.If the problem persists, then you may have a damaged PRINTHEAD (worst case scenario), unrelated to the refilled cartridges. The printhead is a separate electronic assembly (which the cartridges are installed into) and is responsible for firing the ink drops onto the paper. Over time and based on usage this assembly will eventually fail (typically lasts ~4,000 to 5000 printed pages on avg). Refer to video on how the PRINTHEAD functions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2054
        ----
        PRINHEAD TECHNICAL NOTES:

IIT (individual ink tank-based) printer models have an electronic PRINTHEAD within the base of the carriage assembly (responsible for pulling ink from the 4, 5 or 6 ink cartridges and then firing the ink droplets onto the paper) - these will eventually fail depending on print usage type and printer duty cycle (i.e. rated for approximately 10,000 printed pages over life, but the consumer average is typically closer ~4,000-5,000 thruput pages). The printhead is replaceable and can be ordered directly from the manufacturer or www.Amazon.com . For information on how the PRINTHEAD functions, please watch the following video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2054

Typically the printhead should not reach it's end-of-life until after a minimum of 8 or more complete sets of cartridge changes. While some printheads may last 10,000+ pages others may only last 2000 pages, actual results will vary. The printhead will eventually fail in time due to an internal micro-electronics failure, due to the following leading factors: general customer print usage and printer care, printer duty cycle (i.e. # pages printed per month), printing frequency (i.e. time between each print job), print mode (i.e. draft vs. normal) and content printed (i.e. photos vs plain pages) and color mode (black and white only vs. color/greyscale printing).

Paper types used (i.e. plain paper, photo papers & matte/heavy bond papers) and paper edge curl (i.e. duration in printer and/or exposure to low relative humidity) can also quickly lead to premature printhead failures due to physical 'head strikes' of the paper edges making repeated contact with the printhead nozzle plate surfaces.
        ----

        ---
CAUTION: the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from China) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and permanent PRINTHEAD damage. We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested!

Canon i860 black doesnt print correct

Hi

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this I put down here. But after you don this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok it got to be the heads blockage
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Unable o clean

HTML clipboardHi If your brother printer has been left unused for some time it is probably clogged? And the inbuilt cleaning facility does not help then you will probably need to buy a Magic Inkjet Flush Print Head Cleaning Kit.

Which you can find on Ebay.
http://tinyurl.com/yfx2y5k
Although it is possible to take the Brother printers apart, it is too difficult for most people.
To view what´s inside a Brother Printer click on next line...
Click again to enlarge photo.
http://magicinkjetflush.com/images/Unclog_Refill_Brother_Printers.jpg
Therefore, what we suggest is to make cleaning cartridges using the Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool...
Then use them to flush the print head (usually at the end of long tubes near to the back of the Brother printer)
*NEVER TOUCH THE WHITE star shaped PIN... under ink cartridges... because once pessed in... it cannot be used !
Also in most cases a single cleaning cartridge for black and 1 for colour is all you will need.
If you only have FULL INKS and need to make a cleaning cartridge use Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool to empty ink cart...
Save the ink in a clean glass jar or similar make cleaning cartridge then once unclogged simply use Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool
to refill with your saved ink.

How to make Brother Cleaning Cartridges
If you wish to see photos? You can also follow the procedure for Epson C80 in the Magic Inkjet Flush Manual.

Using FREE Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool.
To refill Brother inks... or if printer has been left unused and you need to unclog print head? (To make a cleaning cartridges *Fill empties with Magic Inkjet Flush instead of Ink / Then print rectangles using Magic Inkjet to FLUSH print heads once prints appear without white lines simply replace with inks and continue printing rectangles untill all Magic has been flushed out of print head.)

How to refill Empties...
1. Secure empty Brother ink cartridge UPSIDE DOWN in a vice or similar.
2. ONLY HALF fill Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool with warm Magic Inkjet Flush (or correct color Ink if refilling with ink)
3. Then Holding Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool upright... cover metal tip with a tissue and expell any trapped air until ink appears.
4. Insert metal tip into circular ink outlet hole of upturned cartridge... until black rubber makes a GOOD seal.
Holding both securely...
5. Do NOT TRY TO FILL Instead. PULL UP on the plunger of Dr.EpSUN REFILL TOOL.
6. Air will bubble up through the Magic/ink whilst escaping from cartridge creating a vacum.
7. Now... Simply allow plunger to retract and the Magic/ink will automatically refill the cartridge for you.
8. STOP filling before the Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool is empty otherwise air will entering.
9. Repeat until ink cartridge is full.

How to FLUSH a BROTHER print head.

10. Place filled cartridge into printer and you are ready to print.
Use print head cleaning to prime which will also fill the ink tubes... then....
11. Print rectangles of the problem colour(s) using test sheets (see below) to prime ink.

As found in the manual, here are the print test sheets for printing rectangles depending on colour(s) with problem.
Just choose... Yellow, Magenta, Grey Tones etc...

I have a hp deskjet 3320 printer and i refilled the black and colored ink and it still prints the words out mulitcolored like it is running out when i want it to print out in black

Sounds like your black cartridge has a clogged print head. If you bought a refill from a store or on-line you should take it back and either have them clean it (if they know how) or return it. If you refilled this yourself at home this is a problem that occurs when you let your cartridge dry out before you refill it. You can try and rehydrate the print head by placing it on a warm moist paper towel until you see ink soaking into the towel (ink stains most surfaces so be careful where you do this). Otherwise, I recommend Cartridge World for refills because they go through cleaning and print testing steps to make sure this doesn't happen.

Epson photo 995 - black ink not printing

This is a common problem I have found with Epson printers. If you don’t use the printer on a regular basis the printer heads can clog. I have found no way to clean the heads once this occurs. I will now only purchase HP printers because the printer heads are part of the ink cartridges. With every cartridge change you get new heads, end of that problem!

Epson CX3810 not printing

If you haven't been printing for a year, your print head is most definitely clogged. You did clog it, by not printing :)
First of all, clean the ink that is in your printer (use toilet paper or some tissue).
Then you need to clean the print head. To do that:
  1. Turn your printer on.
  2. On your computer, go to START, then SETTINGS, find PRINTERS AND FAXES and click on that.
  3. A window will open and you should see your printer. Right click on it, then click on PROPERTIES.
  4. A window will open, with several tabs. The one you need is MAINTENANCE. Open the tab and click on CLEAN PRINT HEAD. I think there are 2 options, cleaning and deep cleaning. Click on deep cleaning. You should hear the printer rumbling, then, when it finishes, it should print a page with 4 colors: black, cyan, magenta and yellow.
  5. If the colors come out right, you're done. If not, repeat the cleaning until you get a satisfying result.
Just bear in mind that cleaning the print head uses a lot of your ink!

Also, to avoid getting in this situation again, I suggest that you print one page, at least once in 10 days. That way, your print head should always work fine.
