Canon i860 black doesnt print correct

I have a Canon I860 printer. When I print from word, adobe, word pad, etc.. anything black it doesn't print correctly. Sometimes it doesn't print any black at all and other times the text seems to be really faded or part of the line is missing like it prints the top and bottom of the letters but not the middle part. The printer did sit unused for a while but it has printed probably 100-200 pages just fine since I started using it again and then all of a sudden today it started doing this. I have switched out the ink and it is still doing it just as bad maybe even worse. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this I put down here. But after you don this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok it got to be the heads blockage
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

For some reason Canon have removed manuals from their pages. Second one I have seen missing today. Here is a copy and shows connecting a camera. If your unknown phone has a USB, you can try it. This is the page of the manual that shows it.

My Canon I860 has stopped printing any of the colors. When printing a color picture, the printing takes an extra long time and then only the black colors are printed.

To solve the problem follow the mentioned stages bellow:
1.Click start, then printer and fax icon
2.click maintenance tab, then clic ink cartridge setting
3. Select auto dedection or Black and colour cartridge.
Then cloge all.
Thank you.

3e black cartridge not printing. Canon i860

Did you try another cartridge?

What can happen sometimes is that the print head can get blocked.
You can clean that by removing the print head from the printer. Do not touch the foil on the head or the print nozzles.

Boil some water, pour 1/4 of an inch (6mm) of water into a saucer, place the print nozzles in the water for a minute or so.

Take the print head out of the water and touch it on a paper towel to get the water off.

Reassemble the printer and see what happens...

Large black ink tank is not being used by the printer.

The little cartridges are pigment for photo printing. The Large black cart is ink for plain paper (usually text) printing. If you select a photo paper in the print setup menu, you will use very little of the ink.
To check the function of the large cart print out a test sheet from the printer maintenance menu. You may need to run a head cleaning to get all the nozzles to work.

Photo print quality Canon i860

You might be running low on toner or ink. In this case check out the ink/toner capacity left. it might even be a faulty cartridge if bought new, or a faulty printer, but it doesn't sound like it.
