Weird problem not convergence

I have this JVC TV and have a problem... for the last couple of months when I switched from any input (i.e. video 1 through digital in) to another input the screen would display either one of three things: 1.A plain grey screen with the bottom of the screen having a bowed black section. 2. A plain green screen with the bottom of the screen having a bowed black section. 3. A really weird vertical scramble sometimes many colors, other times only black blue and green. 4. A screen split vertically in half with one side blank or grey, and the other side scrambled vertically. 5. Plain blue screen. 6. Semi scrambled image in black and white, but looks more like a photo negative. I have equipment hooked up as follows: Digital In - DirecTv HD H20 receiver DVI cable Video 1 - DirecTv HD H20 receiver through component cables.(as a back up) Video 2 - Playstation 2 with component video Video 3 - Sony DVD with S-Video On screen menus work fine Now, the tv won't even display a picture except for one of the above things. It used to fix itself by cycling the power but now it just doesn't work. Any help appreciated

54inch Hitachi TV has double figures and colors red, yellow-not normal. Set approximately seven -eight years old. Lost remote control and direction book in moving. Is the set worth getting fixed? Generally...

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony2_bing.gif,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer2_bing.gif, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

I have a model av48p776 jvc I am getting jitter lines across the screen more often than not and the bright comes and goes what do I need to do to fix it I would hate to get rid of the TV I just bought it

JVC AV48P776 Jitter and Brightness Varies

Check for convergence failure. Convergence Gallery Try adjusting convergence in user menu. If convergence display is messed up or adjustments do not work correctly, you have an Intermittent short circuit within an STK IC.

Look at menu screen with an unused input (antenna or video). If menu is stable and clear, TV may be OK and you may have a signal input problem.

If it is not poor quality input signal or convergence problem, someone has to troubleshoot to determine if it is a Video, Processing, Power supply or CRT related problem.

Most likely convergence.

The remote just magically stopped working, even after new battery

Hi,
Have you tried pressing the 'input' button again this time to switch from video to tv? This happens in quite a few cases where 1 remote is used for many products. Please try and let me know.

Cannot get 27" jvc av-27530 tv to recognize playstation 2

Do you have the remote? You will need to cycle through the inputs to get to video 1 or 3. You might have the buttons on the front of your tv that says tv/video or tv/vcr. If not go down the channels past 1 and it might automatically switch through the video input selections. For any of these solutions have the PS2 plugged into video 1 and turned on. Hope this helps.

Can't play dvd player on JVC tv; I don't have a JVC remote.

I hooked up a Pioneer DVD player to my TV and when I play a DVD the volume cannot be controlled by the TV. It just plays at one level and on the louder side. When I'm watching regular TV and the DVD player is on and playing a disc I start to hear the DVD soundtrack at the same time as the whatever I'm watching on TV. I should not be able to hear anything until I switch over to Video 1. Any suggestions?

Unable to switch to Aux in order to play xbox 360

http://books.jvcservice.com/Download/566962143/LCT1467-001A-A.pdf

at JVC Support Page , download owners manual , listed above , on page 35 , it appears you should press INPUT button and cycle thru TV / video 1 / video 2 / V2 component / and video .

depending what video input option you used to hook up your Xbox to , you should be able to figure it out from here.

No video input -- all ports -- for JVC LT-37X688

JVC may allow warranty exception or some accomodation for 15 days out. You have 2 seperate issues

1. White lines spreading is probably a video process problem. I think this TV has 3 Boards inside. Middle one is most likely suspect followed by the one on the Right

2. HDMI input not working is because they were turned OFF. JVC TV's have a sensor that will shut off the HDMI if the TV's back cover is removed. This must be reset in the Service Menu.
