It seems that my capacitance touch volume control just stopped working and I can only control the sound now from the PC. Any suggestions?
Thanks to cagamba for his discovery. I thought for a while I had bought a lemon. Touch the audio plug outlet at the back of the computer with one hand and touch the volume control with the other hand. It really works.
Hello from Brazil. The solution I found for this problem is not permanent, but will make it work. I figured it has to have a proper ground on you in order to work, so I went about the system looking for a ground I could touch with the other hand. The only one I found easily, although it doesn't have an easy reach, was the audio plug outer contact. Touch it with one hand, with the other touch the control. It will work, but I too wanted a less troublesome, permanent solution. Cheers
I am very happy to have found this thread. I was about to pitch my speakers into the recycling until I read this. For my setup I have a very exotic arrangement, which explains why I was not grounded. I was able to get the speakers to work again after touching my left hand into the video port of the television while using my right hand to adjust the volume control. Needless to say this is a MAJOR design flaw in the speakers. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone or buy any products from JBL again. I spent a long time troubleshooting this. I am pretty *shocked* (no just kidding) that this solution actually works! plesantly surprised

That does seem to be the case. I had the same problem with the JBL creature speakers on my laptop. When the Laptop was on my laptop it grounded or if on a work surface I have to touch another part of the laptop whilst using the touch control on the speakers. It works fine when the laptop is not plugged in to the mains.
There must be a solution to this problem, but thanks to cagamba who is the only one pointing out the real issue to a problem found by many
