20 Most Recent JBL CREATUREIIWHITE Computer Speakers Questions & Answers

Hello from Brazil. The solution I found for this problem is not permanent, but will make it work. I figured it has to have a proper ground on you in order to work, so I went about the system looking for a ground I could touch with the other hand. The only one I found easily, although it doesn't have an easy reach, was the audio plug outer contact. Touch it with one hand, with the other touch the control. It will work, but I too wanted a less troublesome, permanent solution. Cheers

Check the impedance or resistance of the speakers with an OHM meter - should be around 4 to 8 ohms. If you don't get a reading, its bad.

This problem has something to do with electrical grounding. I found a solution from cagamba of Brazil deeper in this site. With one hand, touch the audio outlet at the back of the computer and with the other the JBL volume touch control. It has worked for me.

This problem has been around since before the computer age and is quite common, it's also happened with local taxi firms in the area suddenly broadcasting on your speakers.

The reason it happens is that the speaker cable length is very close to the frequency the station is broadcasting on one solution is to pruchase a ring magnet and wrap the cable several time around it, another is to use screened cable, both are not cost effective, the simple solution is to purchase a speaker extension lead.

inside the sub theres a small computer chip board. unfortunately with jbl this board shorts out very frequently. short of a disassibly process and seeing a burnt spot on the board, the only other chance may be the power pack wich can be replaced with a 20.00 one from walmart

I am glad to hear that atleast 85% of your problem is solved.
Now coming to the sound drivers, when you purchased the speakers you must have got a cd with that.Just use that to install the sound drivers on your mac pc.If you dont have the cd then give me the make and the model no. of the speakers i'll try to find the drivers online and then give you the link.

Have a great weekend.

1. Make sure all wall and power outlet switches are on and that all switches for your speaker system are on. Cycle the power switch.(switch is located on the back of the subwoofer) Check power LED on left and right speakers. Is the LED on? If not, power is not getting to your speaker system. Make sure the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet. 2. Ensure that the speaker input jack is pushed all the way into the appropriate jack. Check all the connections and secure them. 3. Check the connection to the soundcard. Make sure it is connected to the proper jack. This varies from each soundcard manufacturer. (Please refer to your soundcard manual.) 4. Your volume settings are too low or muted. Increase your volume by pressing the + key located on top of the right satellite. You can also check your volume through the volume control located in the taskbar. To mute and unmute the speakers, press the + and - controls at the same time.

the part that is for your problem
This is an indication that the satellite speakers are not plugged in all the way to the subwoofer. You will hear a slight "snap" sound if they are plugged in all the way. The inputs are color coded and shape coded (triangle and square). Make sure they are aligned properly.

Probably a poor power connection either where the AC pack goes in to the wall (probably powerbar!) or where the plug from the power pack goes into the unit. Wiggle the various connectors to see which one solves the problem. As a last resort you may have a faulty power pack (try ask a dealer or friend to test your system on their power pack).

Hello Gil
WEll defenetely, you fried your spks. so you have some options here.
1) Go to warranty (if apply) and use it.
2) get the spks. to repair shop to change board. ($$$)
3) buy new pair of speakers. and keep away from statics places. use wood tables instead of metalics.
good luck

For the JBL Awake
I just had the same issue and i found a way to solve this :
1. Unplug the power supply
2. Plug it back while holding the [ON/OFF] button
3. The screen shows “UP9” again
4. Do the update with the JBL Music app (I did it with my old iPhone 4s plugged on the 30pin connector)
5. Finish the firmware update ... until the app tells you to unplug the power before restarting the device
(Sorry for my bad English, i’m French)

Assuming Bluetooth mode. Insure Bluetooth is enabled on the iPad and the JBL and that they are in the pairing mode.

Sometimes I find it necessary to restart a device to get its Bluetooth pairing mode to connect to the device I am trying to connect it to, such as a speaker or even my car.
