Brother hl-4070cdw. Doesn't print red or green properly very faded colors.

Printed master test print from brother and colors were sharp and correct I cleaned the wires. Installed updated drivers. Printing color with computer gives result as does direct print from a USB thumb drive. Also replaced most toner cartridges and installed another drum. This printer used to print vivid colors Toner cartridges are not oem (not brand name toner but cartridges are brother)

SOURCE: BROTHER Hl 2040 PRINTER WON'T PRING

I got exactly the same problem and the "reset" didn't do anything. I fixed it by putting a piece of duck tape on magic eye on the cartridge.
Fallow those step to do the same thing as me:

  1. Open the front panel.
  2. Remove the toner and the drum
  3. Remove the toner FROM the drum
  4. On each side of the toner, there should be a little glass. Put the piece of duck tape on one of them. I put mine on the right side.
  5. Put everything back in.
  6. Turn on your printer if it's not already.
  7. Now, the low toner light should be gone and the green light should be on.
Now, you can really empty your cartridge.

SOURCE: Brother HL 2140: Toner ledlight

Hi Adsl34xg,
The cartridge that comes with the printer (or starter cartridge) has a yield of 1,000 pages @ 5% coverage. It probably really has run out of toner. Replace with a new cartridge to see if you can print. A replacement cartridge should give you 2,500 pages @ 5% coverage.

SOURCE: Brother HL5140 won't print

Sadly this happens all the time - we have about 12 of these printers and 2 have the same problem at this moment and the only fix we have found previously is to replace the drum unit with a brand new one which is hardly economical - indeed the machines are all NHS funded and often the solution has been to throw the printers with this problem away and we have a few defunct ones piled in a corner because of this - if anyone knows why and how this happens ( the tech dept locally has no ideas but just wupply an new printer as they are cheap) I would be very interested also - changing the drum and cartride to a partly used one from a different machine does nothing at all either so it has to be something to do with the chip in the new drum resetting the machine but how and why is beyond us. In every case the printer prints perfectly before the fault and after the change to a new drum so I can only assume it is a way of generating more drum sales??

SOURCE: all new toner but prints everything blue

You should go where you bought the ink and ask for you money back because it was defective, provided that you bought it from a ligitimate source and not fly by night outfit. But I thought that even in large quantities the colors came balanced and you could only buy them in threes.

It could be a problem with the bias voltages in the High Voltage Power Supply, but a much more common cause is simply a bad magenta toner cartridge. If the cartridge is fairly new, take it and a print sample back to the store where you bought it, and they might exchange it for you.

Brother HL-4070 printing out black whole page. Is this drum problem?

Try swapping the black and the magenta (red) cartridge.
This will not damage the printer and you can see if the toner or the drum is defective.

If you get a red page, drum
Black page, toner cartridge

Black spots are appearing on the left margin of the page. It's only six weeks old, so I don't think it's the cartridge or drum. Is there another solution?
