Wireles connection shows connected but cannot open any web page

Open web browser click tools in toolbar then internet options next connections next lan settings check automatically connect uncheck the rest an save
for firefox tools options advanced network connection settings no proxy checked

if you connect your pc to the router via ethernet cable and open your web browser. In the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and it should bring up your router's home page. you will have to type user and password which should be admin for both. Then just navigate to the password settings and enter your own and save it.

Possible the wireless is not activated on the router.

Do this...Open internet explorer
Type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0 in the address bar of your internet,hit enter.

username =admin
password = password or admin

Once in the routers web page navigate to wireless settings and make sure it is enabled and secure.
If you choose to use a wep security key,write it down for future use.

Once done,exit router page and reboot pc.

The settings on your PC might not configure correctly.
Try this,
Go to "Network Connections" and select the "LAN" connection, most probably your is the "wireless LAN" right-click and select properties and in the "general tab" select "Intenet Protocol(TCP/IP)" properties and check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "
Obtain an IP DNS address automatically" and click "OK"

If you have selected a "Static IP" earlier your PC will not be able to link to the web access.

default IP of router is 192.168.1.1
then it will open the page

if you are unable to open this page through wireles, then try connecting the router to pc through lan wire.

The passphrase can be seen on the router's Admin page or its usually called router's Setup Page. You can open the router's setup page using your Internet Explorer. First you must your default gateway address. Connect your computer wired to the router or you can use a computer that is hardwired to the router to check the Default Gateway by going to Command Prompt then type IPCONFIG. If you see the Default Gateway, that's the address that you need to type on your Internet Explorer like http://192.168.1.1. If you have the router's setup page opened, you can see the passphrase on Wireless tab or Wireles Security Mode

Try connecting to another wireless connection... if it connects to another connection and you get to the internet, then it is something with your wireless router or modem. Your PC can "see" a wireless connection, so it is NOT PC hardware.

It sounds like you can connect to the router, but cannot go through the router to get to the internet. Probably a simple issue with your modem or router. Try power cycling the modem, and power cycling the router. Then restart your PC and try connecting again.

If all that fails, try installing Mozilla Firefox and see if that will get out to the internet. It may be a problem with Internet Explorer.

Try diagnose and repaire the connection if that does not work Reset your modem it should go back to default manufacture setup.Then turn modem off and connect any computer or laptop to the modem with ethernet wire turn the modem on go back to your computer that you are connected to modem with wire go to network connections and disable the wireless Network connection and enable local area connection once you see you have connected and have internet working go to start menu you can do this on the start search bar with vista or run with any other windows version type cmd and press enter, it should bring a DOS command menu and then type in ipconfig and enter scroll up and down to where you see default gateway type that ip address to your internet browser it should take you to login screen username should be administrator password admin setup your WEB key make the wireless access available DO NOT FORGET to write the web key down, give a name to the connection and change the default password from admin to something you can remember. save the settings and turn that off keep the laptop on. Then unplug the ethernet cable and switch the network connectiion again enable wireless disable local area also you need to scan the available wireless internet and pick the one you just named use the webkey to access and save when the connection in made.
