20 Most Recent Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook Questions & Answers

Most dell machines do no come with dvd rewriting as standard. They only come with cd rewriting capability. Unless you specifically requested it as an add on to the spec it probably just has the ability to pay dvd's.

Most internet cafe's will have a machine with a dvd rewriter if you really need to copy a dvd

You might need to go into the computer's BIOS and see if it's set to boot from a bootable CD or USB device. If it's set to only boot from the hard drive, it won't even look at other drives. Different computers use different ways to access the BIOS: you might try pressing the F12 key when the boot logo appears. Check your owner's documentation - it should tell you the procedure for your computer.

Sounds like your motherboard battery needs replacing. It is normally a CR2032 button battery and is very easy to change.. It holds CMOS settings when power is turned off.

What do you want to know?

Is it plugged in? If so then most likely it is not taking a charge. This could mean your charger has gone bad, the cord leading to it is bad, the cord going to the computer is bad (search for breaks or chewing if you have animals) or the port where you plug it into the computer has suffered damage. This last one is internal as the actual port has come loose where it is attached/ soldered onto the motherboard. You would have to bring it to a qualified repair technician for this. You can also find some online.

There are lots of problems of using wireless LANs in metal buildings, especially if you are trying to go outside the building and into another building. What I have had to do where I work is put an external antenna on the wireless router and use that to transmit the signal beyond the metal shell of the building.

If that still does not yeild satisfactory results, you can set up another wireless router in the "home" location with an external antenna to act as a recieving point for the other router in the office ... essentially this is setting up a site to site network. With both routers working together you should resolve the wireless drop out issue.

Bestbuy also sells a Wireless Booster, this works the same way as I explained with using two routers however if you go that route be sure you have the option to either add an antenna or you can place it near a window (glass cuts down on your signal than steel).

If this fails look at replacing the wireless card; this setup will still provide benefical even if you need to replace the card as it will provide stronger signals in stormy weather as well.

If you still have issues please let me know if it is Norton AntiVirus 7 or another program. And I can help you further.
