I have many small air purifiers. Some run good, smooth and quiet. Two dont run well. Motor sounds dirty and is louder compared to when unit was new. Hear "rubbing" and/or "scrapeing" sound. And when I turn unit off, the spinning fan blade does not smoothly spin slower and slower until comming to a fukk stop.. When I turn it off, the blade quuckly slows and comes to an abrupt stop. Applying differnt lubs help, but need to clean motor but scared to take motor apart. Any Help?
SOURCE: Sharper Image GP Silent Air Purifier with Ionic Breeze s1730
i have 2 units, and had this same issue happen 3 times. Tonight it happened with a forth, last time i had to talk to management to get it replaced outside of warranty. Ionic breeze has major quality issues, and I would NOT buy anything else from sharper image. They also reduced the warranty from the original model drastically. for the price these were, they should be covered lifetime to show their commitment to their product. there is also a class action lawsuit against sharper image, for their false claims for the product...i believe sharper image chose to settle.
SOURCE: Red Cleaning Light won't turn off
If the cleaning light stays red it is do to a failure of the nichrome wire sensor that detects deposit build up. This wire is locatied in the center where the grids are removed and easily broken. It runs from top to bottom twice. Look inside and if you see a loose wire that looks like a fine thread that is your problem. Not a do it yourself job.

Hi Wayne, glad to hear it's working again. Sometimes turning it off and let it sit for a while does clear some of the problems weird enough.
I'd appreciate your feedback.

SOURCE: Ecoquest Flair Air Purifier leaves black residue on walls and...
Hi there,
The black residue is what is in your air. The reason for it to cling to the walls is the Ionization process that the machine creates. The ionization is to create a clean breathing space, free from contaminants. All particles floating in the air will be negatively charged and cling to each other or to objects in the room (like walls) that are positively charged.
If you cook, there is some smoke created, or when you burn candles. These greasy particles will stick to the wall or to surfaces. Cleaning them up regularly might help. You can also try another product from EcoQuest called EcoH which is based on enzymes and cut through that grime easily. That might take the black stuff off the walls.

SOURCE: I have 2 ionic breeze air purifiers sharper image.(germical )
I have the same problem as gerardperez7. One of my germicidal light quadras won't turn the light on and doesn't appear to be cleaning the air at all. I even put a new light bulb in it and it doesn't fix the problem.
