You need to configure the wireless settings
connect to your router using a cable and then go to your browser to 192.168.1.1
go to wireless and setup your wireless network settings

SOURCE: No connectivity to 2nd desktop or laptop - although worked before

Hello....sudden loss of wireless on two computers, in the same home, may indicate that a powerful source of wireless interference has just arrived (since your wireless router light is still on).

1) Does the signal improve if you move the router, or move the laptop closer to the router?
2) Have you had any success with changing the channel on your router? (Login to router > select Wireless Settings > Channel)

If you have not moved furniture yourself, or installed a device which could interfere with the signal (eg a DECT phone), it's possible a neighbour's new router may be the culprit.

Please come back to Fixya if this does not help.

SOURCE: Internet access not working on desktop thru Netgear WGR614 router

Make sure your desktop doesn't have static IP address. Go to Network Connections, Properties of Local Area Connection, Internet Protocol > Properties. Select Obtain IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Servers Automatically. Apply the changes and restart the computer.

SOURCE: Recently the Router stoped connecting to the internet

There can be a few solutions to this.

First off, assuming you are using a standard cable/DSL home (dynamic) IP configuration for an internet connection, be sure to power off (unplug)your modem and router for at least 2 minutes, then plug them back in (if it is a cable modem, undo the cable connection as well), When you plug them back in, be sure to plug in the modem first, and wait until all lights stop blinking (maybe another 2 minutes) before you power on your router again.

Logon to the router status or basic setting page and make sure it is seeing DNS servers that are not part of your local network. And that it has an IP address.

Also, if your router is running a DHCP server, be sure the timeout is set for a nice long itme, say 7-8 days.

If it's still not working get back to me.

SOURCE: I can't access the internet via my Optus Netgear

I am having exactly the same problem. It occurred on Sunday 17th. I have phoned Optus who seem unable to work out what has happened. It will work wirelessly but not recognise it when set up via ethernet cable.

Can't connect Nook internet wireless

further isolate the problem:

1. is the nook the only device that can connect wirelessly?
2. Make sure that the Password or the Network key is correct.
3. turn off/on the router and the nook
4. 'forget the network' on the wifi section on the nook
5. last recourse is to change the wireless settings (WEP) or do a firmware upgrade on the router.
-note that changing wireless settings will affect all your wifi devices. this means that you need to reconnect each one of them. if you have a lot, better think twice and just call tech support for further assistance

Wifi disabled on router

Sounds strange, unplug and plug it back in to see if you get lucky. If your sure there is nothing else preventing the wireless form being activated you might have to reset the router and hope that works. Good luck.

Why won't laptop connect to wireless internet? Wifi is working, another computer in home is fine

are you at home or Starbuck? location matters.
so, the compaq must be setup correctly.
your router broadcasts the SSID name seen by you on all devices, see that on the Compaq (y/n)
then you must pick wep. or wpa, or wpa2 encyption mode.
as set in your router, we cant see inside you router only you can
then set the passphrase to what you router wants.
is this XP, windows
does the wifi chip look ok in device manager?
Is XP infected.? with malware as all are now.

never post about computers lacking what operating system you have, or answers will be wrong, even all answers.

Was working ok then internet down and red light on router constant - have done the turn off turn on routine and reset router to no avail. have also plugged indirectly to computer - green light then comes...

Try rebooting both the modem and the router. It could be that the modem didn't pick up it's ip number when the internet went down. Then try pluggint you computer directly into the modem first to make sure it is setup and working properly. Then plug in the router (to the modem) and the PC plugged in directly to the router and check.

Once you have it connecting at that point then check the wireless settings on both the router and the pc. Then enable the wireless on the pc, unplug the LAN and switch to wireless network on the pc and see if it won't work.

If it works plugged in on the LAN but then not on the wireless then either your configuration isn't correct (ie wrong gateway ip number...gateway should be the same ip number as the router...ie 192.168.***.***) or perhaps the wireless part of the router died. It is possible for the wireless to die and the LAN (hard wired connection) to still work.

802.11n WiFi standard is... the iPhone uses 2 technologies to communicate with the AT&T network,
the iPhone 4G has two models, a CDMA model, and a GSM model...
