We apologize for the inconvenience. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:
Open the printer cover to access the cartridge area. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
Remove both cartridges from the printer.
Check the cartridge area and make sure encoder strip is not loose. The encoder strip is transparent strip located behind the cartridge carrier along with the carrier belt.
If encoder strip is properly seated in the printer, close the printer cover.
Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
When the printer turns on, re-insert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors. The carrier jam could be due to one of the cartridges.
If no error appears, re-insert the other cartridge.
Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear.
If no error appears, try to print again to verify that the carrier jam issue is fixed.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer > reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection. If that doesn't help, try the steps below:
Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
Delete the Lexmark print object.
Reboot computer.
Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.
It could be a slight communication problem. Try to unplug the printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet to reset. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to scan again.
You can also try to update your printer software. The Lexmark X5070 driver can downloaded and installed by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/mqHzMk. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.
Were you able to scan to your Windows 7 before? If yes, it could be just a slight communication problem. Disconnect your printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect your printer to the computer. Doing this usually fixes minor communication issues. Try to scan again.
