I moved my frig and pluged it back in now it will not get cold

you need to have the frig defrost the passage is in the back going from the frig to the freezer so if it is frosted in the back than the air is not moving correctly

the damper vent door between the freezer and fridge compartments is frozen shut or if motor operated it broken or the motor is bad or power to motor is missing to open and close this door to let cold air into fridge from freezer also there is an evaporator fan near here make sure it is operating or cold air wont be moved

this is due to the compressor fan is not running unplug the unit and check the compressor fan by pluging the unit back in do not leave the unit plugged in after you check the compressor fan you will overheat the compressor causing damage to the compressor if you have any further questions message me back most of the time you will have to replace the compressor fan and then the unit will start running perfectly and please remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future and you have to remove the either cardboard or metal piece protecting the compressor in the back of the machine in order to get at the compressor fan itself Thanks again Rick

There are a few possibilities. First, Is the freezer portion working okay? If yes, then the problem is blocked air flow from the freezer to the frig. If no, then the cooling fan could be bad or the thermostat could be bad. First check for temperature in Freezer section, should be about 4-8 degrees no more. If it is cold, then locate the cooling fan behind the back of the frig and see if it is moving or listen for movement. If it is moving then rearrange the food in your freezer compartment.and frig compartment away from the vents. If it is not moving, then the thermocouple could be bad. compressor problems and freon leaks are not that common unless the frig has been moved alot. The cooling fan or thermocouple or overstuffed freezer compartment are the usual suspects in 90 % of cooling problems. cooling fans and thermocouples can be cleaned by using canned compressed air to remove dust which will sometimes cause a failure. The parts are inexpensive but labor is about $80. Start with the freezer because all of the cooling for the whole unit starts in the freezer.

Usually when the freezer is still giving cold but the frig is not receiving cold you have an ice build-up on the cold (evaporator) coil that is hidden behind the rear panel of the freezer compartment. If you push on this panel, you usually will hear a cruntch sound (this tells you there is ice/frost on the coil). There are 3 components that affect this problem: defrost timer, defrost stat, defrost heat coil. In other words, something is not working to remove the frost from the coil and it is building-up day after day (takes about 5-7 days to become full (blocked). When this happens, no air can move over the coil to take the cold away and blow it throughout the frig or freezer compartments.
To access the defrost coil or stat, you have to ren move the back panel (in the freezer) and remove all the ice with a hair dryer only or let the door open all day and allow it to melt. DO NOT PUSH OR PRY OR CHOP WITH ANY TOOL OR YOU WILL BE GARRANTEED TO PUNCTURE A HOLE IN THE COIL AND YOU ARE REALLY SCREWED. The time is either: under the front of the whole refrigerator, or in the frig compartment (towards the back or attached to the ceiling of frig compartment). You moved the frig to a new home? Did you lay it on its back? If so it may have caused the freon to leak out. Check the knob in the frig to see if the controls are set in place.. usually its a knob that goes from 1 to 5.

my 7yr old roper refrigerator top freezer stopped cooling and freezing but the light was still on with no fans. I dropped the thermostat cover and jumped the thermostat wires,no help . then i removed the wiring harness from the defrost timer and jumped the #1and #4 .She kicked off. I then replaced the defrost timer and it is running fine now 

if u find out let me know. when we turn both frig/freez switches off the frig light comes back on flashes to number 6. it still seems cold be like this 2-3 days the food still seems cold. good luck. jax, fl

Check to see if air is blowing into refrigerator compartment.If no air is blowing.It may be that the settings on your dials are not right.If they are and air is not blowing,your evaporator fan is not working,or may be obstructed.
