You don't say how old the frig is ... you cant have a frig run like this. On one day ... off the next ... slam the door and it works ... Either get a new frig of get this one repaired professionally. Probably best to get a new frig. I would guess minimum service call charge will be $250.00

this unit has a control boardd that actually controls all the componets/timing sequences on it... g.e has had several issues over the last few years with advertising energy effecient stuff and then recalled some of there monogram units or made it available to customers that they needed the doors replaced in order for them to indeed be enrgy star qualified and then there are the units with control board issues... i would almost be 98% positive you have a control board that has failed... if you unplug it will start over and reset but once reaches timing sequence it will fail again and or relays stick on board/circuit problem... i would purchase a new control board also called main pcb
www.sears.com then hit the parts direct link up top it will ask you to enter the complete model number and you can find the part and price... pretty easy to replace also...just make sure while replacing you have unplugged and avoid excess static electricity around your new circuit board... good luck to you ....

First you need to check if the compressor is working properly.
Remove the rear panel and look for a cylinder with bunch of copper lines going in and out. feel those copper lines one of them should be warm and the other should be cold. Also you should hear the compressor working (pretty noisy) when the temperature in the freezer is not cold enough. If the lines are about same temperature and the compressor does not seem to work, the first place to check is the starter relay. Often the relay breaks. The part is WHIRLPOOL 2188830 2220475 RELAY. I found one on ebay.

You have to replace the electrical components on the side of the compressor. The heat from the fan not running by the compressor more than likely has damaged them. These are a safety feature to save the compressor from damage when it overheats.

hello, my refrigerator got the following problem; it works fine at the freezer but there is no cold in the frig, when i unplug it from the wall connection and after few time connect it again, it start working, after few hours, the refrigerator stop, the freezer is fine and very cool,but the frig is not cool and the refrigerator do not start working again, even after the freezer gets warm.Please i hope you can help me with this problem.

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.

• possible causes:

1. bad defrost timer
2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
3. bad thermo switch in freezer

If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.

Check to see if air is blowing into refrigerator compartment.If no air is blowing.It may be that the settings on your dials are not right.If they are and air is not blowing,your evaporator fan is not working,or may be obstructed.

it might have low volatge to compressor and burned out overload try unplugging it again wait a few hours and plug it back in it might start working good luck if it doesnt try replacing relay overload compasator they sell a kit called a 3 n 1 start kit
