Most likely the power supply has to be replaced; but it could be the safety switch too. Do you have any experience or knowledge in using meters and troubleshooting electronics? As you mensioned the Magnetron or the capacitor of the oven is short. If the magnetron or the capacitor is short then the transformer driving the magnetron will get over heated because of the over current drain. It will finally result in failure of the mains fuse inside the oven. You have to check the fuse first. If its faulty then change the same with anew one. If the fuse again blews the you have to replace the manetron and the capacitor. The magnetron and the capacitor will look like on in the picture. Magnetron in the microwave oven produce the microwaves which heats the food.

The microwaves are produced by a MAGNETRON. Everything else can work, but if that does not, then there is no heat added to the food. Unfortunately it is the most expensive part of the microwave and has nothing you can really work on.

ps tell me why are you replacing the power diode in 15 yrs working with microwaves ibe never seen one blow

Most likely causes are a blown fuse in HV area of microwave or an open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
Less likely causes are failure of various parts in the HV area.

If it's making a loud buzzing like sound it's the component that sends waves through the microwave. This piece is about $120 plus they charge about $65+ to install it. Also some charge the diagnostic fee of about $75. Either way, once a microwave goes out it's pretty much useless to repair one unless you have put a lot of money into it. We had ours to do the exact thing you describe and it was cheaper to buy another and me install it basically because I was getting another 2 year warranty as to the other had run out.

It sounds like there may be a diode or relay on the control that has failed. This could cause both symptoms you are explaining here. In either case the control board/keymembrane would need replaced. The cost of these would be about $173.00 for parts. Unfortunatly this repair would most likely cost more than the value of the product. Sorry for the bad news.

The door switch is loose or fualty you can adjust the switches first to see if it hase just moved if this does not work then replace it.unplug the unit and remove the cover panel look between the controll panel and the cavity on the back of the front panell you will see two or three switches the (GREY or BLACK ) look for the retaining screw loosen slightly and adjust if this does not work the take notes of the wire positions etc on the switch get a new on eand replace close unit plug and play

Remove the case and confirm that the door latch switch is mechanically intact. Next, disconnect the switch and test it with an ohm meter to see that it is actually working. It should show a short (0.0 ohms) when the door is closed and no reading when the door is open. Those readings could be reversed but there should be two distinctly different readings when testing the switch. If you don't see any differnce between readings when the door is open or closed then replace the switch. This should solve your problem.

If the metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Otherwise, you may get rust and/or arcing.
